Default Arrests of U.S. citizens with help from a Predator drone

Quote:
As the unmanned aircraft circled 2 miles overhead the next morning, sophisticated sensors under the nose helped pinpoint the three suspects and showed they were unarmed. Police rushed in and made the first known arrests of U.S. citizens with help from a Predator, the spy drone that has helped revolutionize modern warfare.

But former Rep. Jane Harman (D-Venice), who sat on the House homeland security intelligence subcommittee at the time and served as its chairwoman from 2007 until early this year, said no one ever discussed using Predators to help local police serve warrants or do other basic work.

Using Predators for routine law enforcement without public debate or clear legal authority is a mistake, Harman said.

"There is no question that this could become something that people will regret," said Harman...
I personally completely agree with former Rep. Harman. This is an insane policy to use military drones against us. I have no problem with the drones used to track and apprehend illegal aliens along the border, but not US citizens unless there is some extreme situation. Even then the use must be approved by the court beforehand. And I wonder what the actual cost to the taxpayers is for solving this fiendishly clever crime of stealing six cows from the neighbor!

agreed, phoenix. there are other implications aside from what we appear to see on the surface

for example, having exceptions like these militarized drones for use in civilian life could prop up other mechanical devices or machines to further monitor everyone's actions - sh*t like those "glasses" some latin american country just developed to track 50000 (dont remember the exact number, but it was in the tens of thousands) faces per second to pin point criminals, etc. It's like the big brother concept, and it will happen if this goes on.

Agreed, just a terrible decision without any public debate on the matter.

That's a bit scary tbh. I wouldn't like living in a place where I'm felling I'm being observed 24/7. :\

So if it's for modern warfares they shouldn't be monitoring everyone.

Did it look something like this:

------------

The way things are going a 2nd civil war is clearly possible. Unfortunately the people who are in control also control the "big guns" {for the most part}. How much time before some bigwig decides to clear out an area of "rebels" in one shot, think nukes? Of course other countries aren't going to just sit back and watch, this is the U.S. and they'll be paranoid about one of those nukes coming their way {probably with very good reason}. Voila! Instant WWIII.

Gee, can't wait to see the fireworks start.

Peace to you and yours,
Matthew "Dra'Gon" Stohler

Well the patriot act was extended this year giving the government the right to do pretty much anything without approval from anyone if any kind of "terrorist" is involved. This is not really that much of a suprise.
Oh and wouldn't it be COD9?
