The Pleasures and Pain of Barbed Wire Love

For most of us, pain is just that. Pain.
But to some people, there's a special kind of pleasure in pain -- and they'll test the limits of their own endurance to get there.
And others just like to inflict it on willing partners.
This weekend, the dominant and submissive alike gathered in Los Angeles for DomConLA, and annual gathering of fetishists who trade tips and techniques on things like pony play, penile insertion (yes -- ouch!), whippings, beatings, biting and spoiking.
OK, I made that last one up -- but if you're an S&M lover, feel free to take the word and turn it into something (drop me a line if you do).

DomConLA was started back in 2003 by Mistress Cyan, and from its humble beginnings it has become the largest convention in the country for people who are into BDSM.
That stands for bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadism, masochism.
I know, they doubled up on some letters -- I wasn't going to point that out. They all had whips and spiky things.

I suffer from chronic migraines, every day and have for over 40 years.
If I want pain during sex, I only have to attempt it when I have a migraine, more blood flow to the brain, more pain.

Yeah, yeah, I know what you men are going to say, if I still have blood flowing to my brain, I'm doing it wrong...

I had the lower brain removed when I was a little younger. Only one head does my thinking, the other just keeps an eye on my shoes......

Hmmm i love to play and explore, and sex is interesting if done that way, but pain for the sake of pleasure seems a tad odd.

O.K. I will weigh in. First I can not afford to get to LA right now. If I could, I would, but only for the conference. I hate the crowded cities.

I do enjoy pain. It has been my only way to cope since I was 16. Of course I did have sadistic\dominance fantasies since puberty, but that is another topic all together. For the member suggesting that "Real Pain" would "cure" BDSM fantasies and practice, I say: Bu11 Sh1te!

Just a few will help some to understand:
Age 1 month, car accident, blood clot on brain(1st time I died.) Age 16 broken back in football game, went undiagnosed for 37 years. Taken by ambulance to E.R. 7 times, 6 for motorcycle accidents, 1 for heart attack(wrong diagnosis, 2nd time I died). One motorcycle accident I crushed the gas tank of a Honda 750 in 3 places with my jewels. For the last 5 years have suffered "Tietze syndrome"(look it up.) There were 2 main work related accidents; one was when I stood up and suddenly sat on my heel(at 370 pounds)(since had gastric bypass severely reduced weight), the other involved a very large "manhole cover" 150 pounds + caused compression of L1 through L5 with intrusion into spinal canal. I just had a total knee replacement and am scheduled for the other. I suffer completely debilitating migraines. etc....there is more.

Basically I have been shot, stabbed, sliced, beaten, injured providing beating(never give an upper-cut to an open mouth!!!), and bit by man and animal.

So, tell me about pain. Please. I developed a method for dealing with it, and a brief belief system to support it. Pain is the one thing that lets one know one is alive. Pleasure can come in many forms including dreams. Pain, not so much. Pain has the ability to focus one's mind, awaken one from doldrum.

I also learned to meditate, at will to go through the various wave states from High Beta through Delta and back(biofeedback), organize memory, ignore some types of pain, self hypnosis, and to simply get on with life. All before the age of 21. If I desire a bit of fun by way of BDSM, I believe I am entitled, providing it is with a willing party.

Sorry for the long rant. This is one of those "touchy subjects". Also the fact my psych meds are doing precisely squat right now, could have contributed.
