Poor Barney :(

...Also didn't know it was ok to call a member a 'brainless arsehole' on these forums.

While I certainly don't agree with drunk driving (at all), calling people an idiot and using childish plays on their names doesn't do much for supporting your maturity or standpoint. Also should their be a troll all you do is fuel them.

..Saying that a particular opinion is stupid with some reasoning, on the other hand I can understand.

I personally don't have respect for those who drive while intoxicated, especially if they're drunk.

It doesn't matter if you are able to drive while intoxicated, it shouldn't be done in the first place because you may never know what's going to happen. Sure, you may not have hit anything in the past, but that can't be said for the future.

Perhaps you need a friend like him.

i personally think that someone with total disregard for their life, and more to the point for the lives of others is an idiot and is criminally insane. i feel very justified, in my opinion, and hate the fact that all that stands between the idiot and murder is time.

Agree with that sentiment.. Just thought calling NDog an arsehole and an idiot directly does nothing to hold up the forum rules, show maturity or make your argument accessible.

Hundreds, if not thousands of people drive under the influence every day and insulting them is not going to engage them or have them listen to your reasoning no matter how clear it is.

But I suppose rules and maturity are only required some of the time for some people here. Personally I am glad I didn't get into what for most (well done Method) ended up as being a pedantic, immature and name calling exercise. I mean surely we all know what NDog meant by Passing a Driving test? Why make yourself look as though you are poorly clutching for insults of his intelligence when your side of the argument is so clear cut already?

I guess I am one of the few that treats people on the internet as I treat people in the real world and that is why I get so confused. If someone can't talk to me with manners (in a social setting) I will generally just walk away with my pride hurt that I didn't beat them the hell up (can't help being a man). I would not lower myself to their level and I certainly wouldn't start making immature plays on their name. When people (who aren't my friends) start talking nonsense to me and ignore my logic (this generally happens in bars) I walk away. I guess I am in the minority in that regard.

good thing you are able to express yourself as you wish! i too, like that i can!

idiot means - someone who acts in a self-defeating or significantly counterproductive way.

not sure why you think the word is not appropriate, but to each their own.

good to know you draw the line at the word idiot, not at wanting someone dead

i guess if you are polite, then wanting another to die is acceptable to some.

your preference in the ways people express themselves aside, good to know you agree with the point.

giggle!

I am aware of the definition of idiot. I would tend to use idiotic to describe a silly statement rather than actually directly calling someone mentally deficient (that is what someone calling me and idiot conjurers up). I most certainly would not combine this with mocking their name with what I would call childish wordplay...

I am pretty sure that Method was giving a preference in response to the question from NDog that he quoted above.

"Tell me something guys.. Would you like for me to kill someone while drunk driving so that I would go to prison for life?"

"No, kill yourself without taking lives with you."

This in my opinion is not the same things as wishing death upon someone. Although I like Method so this might skew my interpretation.

The part you quoted was a rebuttal and was expressed in the sense of principle or exploration of concept, hence he did not say I am sick for wanting you dead.

Obviously once again that is my opinion and I am probably pushing it a bit. :p

If Method pops by he may let us know if he wants NDog dead!

I can clarify what I said:

He said something that is highly offensive, by saying if he wants us for him to murder other people.

I said what I find an appropriate reply. Why take someone with you, when you can go alone?

If yes, then you are very sick. I hope you realise at least this.
He asks if I want him dead, which was all assumed by him. What I said was, if he wanted to go and run over people, than he should kill himself instead of killing others.

And then I said if I was was sick because in a scenario where he would run over people (which imo was implied), I would rather want for him to die alone.

Conclusion: I never said I wanted him dead, but only that in a scenario where he would kill others, I would prefer without a doubt that he would kill himself without hurting anyone else.

And how many close friends and family members have you had killed by drunk drivers?
My opinion stands!

You wait till your best friend doesn't turn up to accompany you on the motorbike ride you had both planned because a drunk driver ran him off the road the night before, ripped off one leg, broke his back and several other bones then left him to die in a paddock. My friend crawled 20 yards before he died of blood loss and his injuries, then TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF DRUNK DRIVERS!!!

And yeah, if you called someone this directly I'd possibly delete the comment. That however would depend on the circumstances of the reply.

I'm human too, and emotions run high when idiots brag about how great they are when they get drunk and jump behind the wheel, because they have been trained to make decisions.
Living in New Zealand and having to choose between what strain of dope you're gonna toke on DOESN'T mean you've been trained to make decisions!

If you feel I have different rules for myself, report my post and let admin decide!

Thats not a metaphor .............its another example of the same trait
A metaphor is using some scenario totally unconnected to another ....but which reinforces your point in a specific manner
