Stiletto race competitors.
Moscow has hosted a running race with a difference - the participants have to wear high heels.
Dozens of women took part in Russia’s annual stilettos competition, running 50m in heels of at least 9cm (3.54 inches).
Crowds lined the streets to cheer on the participants who stumbled in their shoes – many falling over.
The winner was awarded shopping vouchers worth 100,000 roubles (£1,964) by the Russian edition of Glamour magazine, which hosts the contest.

To ensure a fair contest, all the
participants’ heels were measured
before the race.

The first prize was 100,000 rubles (about
$4,000), while second and third places
received gifts from the sponsors.

Special awards were given for the
most glamorous runner, the best
heels, and for "will to win".
