I am downloading right now with both accounts, and both accounts
will be maxed again in the next 3 or 4 hours.

I really need to stop downloading long enough to burn 100 or so DVD's

Me and my wife are both Movie Addicts

So around 90% of our downloads are Movies.
5% are TV Shows.
the other 5% covers everything else

I'd like to close this meeting of downloaders Anonymous with
another Full Hard Drive

Movie addict here, too. On average so far 2 Terabytes per month on a comfortable 100 Mbps cable connection (averages at about 50 GB every 4 hours or so in real speed). 95% of that are movies from here and one other movie site, the rest TV series and some books/software and miscellaneous.

Fortunately I just started in February this year. Now I am running out of physical(!) storage for 8x500 GB Seagate FreeAgent external drives, 2x750 GB of the same, and 1x750GB internal drive in my TViX 6500.

I could kick myself for not starting with a RAID-5 fileserver (16 drive bays, would have been very expensive for sure but in the long run, a better and more convenient solution plus the added redundancy would prevent me from losing 100 movies at once).

I owe tehparadox.com so much

Now about finding the time to watch all this...

Man that´s heavy, 2TB in a month and I thought I was addicted :)
But I got the storage problem too, even with ~840 GB a month...
A fileserver would be a dream, but expensive too...damn!
For now I think I stick with DVD´s, maybe Bluray in the future.

I hear you... at my other home (Thailand) I have a nice DVD collection of just over 1,000 films, but that one took me the better part of 10 years to establish. No way that I could have taken that with me to Korea - the rent here is at least 4x the rent in Bangkok, so I have only half the space and there are no shelves or racks in my apartment. In fact the storage on hard drives is a lot more convenient than DVDs in shelves, even though my "Wall of Movies" looks very impressive. If it weren't for the enormous time effort, I'd have copied the DVD's to disks a long time ago.

Movie storage on DVD-R is also not the option, I stopped after I burned DVD #700. Majing disks catalogs to be able to find something later is also not always making me happy.

I am really curious how things will look in 5 and 10 years, we're far from the end of technical development. Home entertainment will definitely be centred around a networked media server, and getting rid of old/obsolete technology will be a major challenge (e.g. how do you dispose of 50 kg of storage media?).

I'm glad that I'm not the only one with a movie collector disorder

I hadn't thought of it that way before
