Default I hate dentists!

I just came back from the denist, and I just got to say: I couldn't stand them before, and definitely find them even more appaling now. I don't mind getting my teeth cleaned, but am just annoyed by their arrogance and stupidity.

I was 5 minutes too late for my appointment. When at the reception desk, I immediately got a snide remark of "you're late heh, we'll move you up to the next time slot, wait 10 min". I replied "fine", because of course that was my own fault. (though immediately the classic line sprung to my mind "you never hear me complain when I need to wait on a 10 to 15 min delay from your sham of a business")

So I sat down, and waited till it was my turn. Eventually 10 min had passed. Okay, no problem, I'll wait. 20 min had passed. By this time the waiting room was basically empty besides only me and some other person. I wanted to ask why it would take so long, but didn't bother as I knew they would've loved to have a go at me for complaining. 30 min had passed. At this point I was thinking "my god, they must be deliberately annoying me". But still didn't bother to complain as I thought "they're still in their right, I was late, should've been on time etc...".

As the 30 min had passed, I thought "now my 'debt' has been payed, I was late, they let someone else infront of me, the waiting room was basically almost empty, I even didn't bother complaining about waiting 20 min longer, so surely things must be even now".
Then finally, the assistent dentist came out of her sterile grotto and yelled across the room that it was my turn. As I entered the dentist's 'domain', one could taste an annoyed atmosphere as the prick lifted his shoulders and said "ahwell, let's get started then". Followed up by the so not expected line "next time be on time, k?". Which I replied to "the waiting room was virtually empty, its absolutely ridiculous that you're still moaning over this". Perhaps it would've helped if he had pulled that crowbar out of his ***.

The bottom line is, dentists are still one of the most overpayed and overvalued quacks. And when something doesn't exactly go as they like, they basically expect you to bend over and smile, no matter how deep they'll take it. Maybe it was just this practice's mentality (because I've had numerous similar conflicts with the people that work there), but I have my doubts about that.

Find another dentist => problem solved. Also dentists are almost free where I'm from. That helps.

Your entire right to complain was forfeited when you came late. And why not go visit another dentist if this one is an ass.

I do hate my dentist though, not because they are asses, and they are, but because they keep telling me to "floss daily and brush your teeth twice a day!" even though I don't care and will probably never floss daily or brush more than once. My favorite is when I answer "I do floss daily" and open my mouth to the powerful smell of a thousand corpses. That's what you get, shoulda been a real doctor!

It's not as simple as that. Next best choice is a 30 min drive (15 min without traffic, but that's quite rare in this congested country). And I'm also in a country with universal healthcare (thankfully), but at the end of the day, the money needs to come from someone to pay their wages. My point was that they should whine less for everything that displeases them, if you consider how much money one makes for how not hard they have to work.

anti-dentite. Seriously though, you shouldn't just group all dentists together, mine is awesome and his office would never do that. You don't see me going around saying ALL dentists are great. There are good and bad in every profession.

Please remember to code tag any external links, an easy way is to highlight your links and press the "#" button on the toolbar.
Or you can manually type in the code tags... [code]Links[/code]
[url] tags need to be removed from links as they make the links live (click-able), they do not display correctly & send a referrer when clicked ie our site details get sent to the other site which can be problematic
The insert link option on the toolbar is only for internal links (ie on this site)

I hate dentists with a firey passion. I'm terrified of having all those sharp objects in my mouth and whatnot..so logically I brush, floss, mouthwash, etc. Haven't needed an appointment for years and GUESS WHAT: wisdom teeth are coming in. So I still have to go.
Moral of the story: Try hard at something and you'll fail because of sh*tty luck :P

my solution: dont even go. if you floss, brush and all that crap (it only takes a couple minutes) then guess what? you dont need to visit a dentist! i havent been to one in years because my teeth are in great condition.
i dont like relying on anyone though...i never need to go to the doctor and absolutely refuse to pay someone to cut the hair on my head that grows back in a month anyway, so i cut my own hair. problems solved :)
