Japan Unveils the Gokiraji 2.0!

Released earlier in 2012, the Gokiraji became one of Japan’s hottest toys of the year.
Well, it just got better! Gokiraji 2.0 can now be operated via iPhone or iPad.

Once you’ve received your Gokiraji, you need simply to download the app, attach the infrared light and you’re ready to go.
It turns your phone or tablet into a touchscreen controller.
The 2.0 also includes new control features, including a “Trim Correction Slider,” which lets you turn more precisely.
You can also control the Gokiraji by tilting your iPhone or iPad, using the “Gyro Controls.”

Gokiraji is Japanese for “Roachbot.”
We all know that many people are not fond of cockroaches. Japan Trust Technologies, makers of the Gokiraji, released a statement to that effect:
“Roachbot scrambles around realistically and gives the same sensation of finding one of those intolerable pests. However, with a little time, that intolerance could turn to affection. Even for people who truly hate cockroaches, this is a chance to step into their shoes and learn to like them.”
The new Roachbot is priced at a mere 2,980 yen (only US$37). But it is currently available only in Japan.

Interesting toy but I'd still squish it out of instinct. We don't get the horrid little critters where I live because of the climate and I hate it when I take delivery of a package then find baby roaches in my house....

That 'invention' is just wrong. Of all the cute little critters on our great big ol' blue-green orb they could have chosen to copy/simulate/emulate/[fill in the blank] they chose a disgusting Cucaracha. Oh my! I can certainly understand why these 'pests' are only sold in Japan!
