Default Man Charged After Alligator Eats His Hand

Man Charged After Alligator Eats His Hand

A Florida airboat captain whose hand was bitten off by an alligator is facing charges over his attempt to feed the animal.
Collier County Jail records show that Wallace Weatherholt, 63, has been charged with unlawfully feeding the alligator and has posted a $1,000 (£640) bond.
His next court date is August 22.
Weatherholt was attacked on June 12 as he was giving an Indiana family a tour.
The family said Weatherholt hung a fish over the side of a boat and had his hand at the water's surface when the nine-foot long animal attacked.
Wildlife officers tracked down and killed the alligator.
Weatherholt's hand was found too, but it could not be reattached.

You fine people to discourage breaking the law, and punish them.

Even the biggest fugtard in the world, would know hes been well and truly punished for his actions, "possibly" fining him is indicative of bureaucracy gone horribly wrong, hes been through too much already.

If I had the power, I would nuke his next court date, pat him on the back, and wish him well in the future.

Yea, the alligator himself had already fined the man. The alligator doesn't accept cash...

Would have been a particularly horrific experience too, the way crocodilians clamp on and tear pieces off by spinning.
He's lucky he didn't lose his whole arm, although the hand is of course the best bit, so "lucky" might not be the best term.

I'm a bit undecided on this. My first thought is the law should leave him alone. But, you start feeding these big guys and they start coming around humans for food. That includes cats, dogs, kids.... I'm fairly certain the anti feeding laws are meant to keep the gators wary of people and not to automatically think of them as snacks.

Seeing as he already lost a hand, fining him seems like overkill to me.
