Pretty cool! We have had 2 dogs, both from Texas show up here in Ohio the last couple weeks over 1100 miles from home.

Second lost Texas dog found in Northeast Ohio
For the second time in three weeks, a Texas dog has been found wandering the streets of Northeast Ohio. Maxi was wearing a pink collar with Texas 2007 rabies tags when she was found July 23 at the South Euclid-Cleveland Heights border.

Laura Bruck, of the South Euclid Humane Society, traced the tags to the Ft. Hood Veterinary Treatment Center in Ft. Hood, Texas, about 1,140 miles away.

I can think of another name for cat. it starts with "t" and ends in "arget".

Reading that story, u really wonder, if dogs could talk, what a story it would tell.

But I know what its first words would be when it was re-united with its owners:

"where the F***K have you been the last 9yrs?"

or

"Thats the last frickin' time YOU take me for a walk!!"

Wow. I love my pets personally :)
I think I might talk to my parents now about getting them microchipped, seems like an alright idea.
I would be SO excited if my dog was found after running away previously.
Im happy for the owners really :)

hey Trev - in NSW, its compulsory, unless u get a dog/cat from a breeder that is not registered. If they pound pick them up, then I think they chip in, and charge u.

I actually just got one of my dogs back (Erekose) - mongrel went bush for 10 days (didnt want to go back into his pen). Ended up about 4.5km away.

Oh really. I reckon that's a good thing. The most horrible things can happen to the poor animals when they run off :(
It should be compulsory everywhere, but only with a small fee...
:)
