Oli, sorry but your ISP sounds like ****ing shit. You are paying a pretty penny im sure for 10mbit, which is nice and fast, but this nazi game they are playing with you, limiting your internet to basically what i have, about 250k/sec in your case...... for about 10 hours of the day? thats total shit dude, you need to change ISPs... i mean, literally, going from 10mbit LIMITED download account as you have, to some 5mbit UNLIMITED will give you the over-all more downloading possible. I have only 200k/sec, but i can download unlimited, which is about 17 gigs a day if i go nonstop. Yes im getting 17 gig a day from free megaupload downloading, or mixing free rapidshare/megaupload links. And I hear people are limited with 5gig/day rapidshare premium accounts? what a JOKE! so what if they can download that 5 gig at 1mb/sec? they reach it fast, and then theyre screwed, meanwhile im leeching over 3x that in a day, and free. Makes me laugh.

Anyway your ISP limits you down after only 1.5gig? and 750mb? crap m8, change ISP

I know its terrible... but it seems like most companies in the UK do that... what i know off... ill have to look more into detail and the annoying this is it is £18 a month for our broadband. If i wanted to move upto a bigger package which is the same speed just i can download 3GB+ 1.5GB it would cost like £26 a month or something! Which my dad didn't want to do.. so my ISP told me to download over night... The thing is though 75% of 10Mb/s is so slow for even web browsing.
http://www.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management.php (the limits on my ISP)

Would be nice to go to this: http://www.sky.com/shop/broadband-ta...and-unlimited/ good price.. quicker speeds.. seems like theres no limits.... sort of..http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skyco.../usagepolicies they do seem strictor though on downloading

Rapidshare is a total and complete waste of time. I am serious: RS links should be banned for good. Only torrents with bad seeders (and a very slow upload speed that will make you give up from downloading the whole thing) can be compared.

Reasons:

1) If you upload anything to Rapidshare without creating an account, that file can only be downloaded 10 times (creating a free account or being a premium user, there's no limit). Megaupload don't force you to do this.

2) All Rapidshare files are limited to 200 MB (at least if you are a free user, don't know about premium accounts and they don't matter in all cases). You can upload a single 1 GB file to Megaupload. Since we are dealing with large files these days (720P/1080P movies), it's not a good idea to compress the whole thing in so many parts (there are programs who can download all of them at once, but still, more waste of time).

3) If you create a free account on Megaupload, you can resume all uploads using the Mega Manager software from them. I don't know a service who can offer this (no doubt, a great feature).

4) Impossible to download anything 3/4 of all day (only at midnight). You will see this message frequently: "Unfortunately right now our servers are overloaded and we have no more download slots left for non-members. Of course you can also try again later."

It wasn't like that before, and this is the #1 reason why RS is doomed.

5) RS forces you to wait 15 MINUTES to download each file (when you are lucky enough to find a free slot). Megaupload only waits for 1, 2 minutes between each download. That may sound like nothing, but it is a strong reason why it's so bad. If you need to download 10, 20 parts that someone posted from a single movie, you won't be able to do that in a single day.

6) Crap download speeds. But we can't blame RS since Megaupload also have the same limitation, at least for free users (never tried to download anything being premium, but I bet the speeds are much better). I can't get more than 100 KB/s and my DSL can reach 1,5 MB/s (15 times faster than the speed RS downloads each file).

But even on this scenario, Megaupload beats Rapidshare. Some files are downloaded at 200 KB/s (in rare moments), most of them can reach this speed, but RS never offers me a decent (even if slow) speed.

Now I want to ask you, why would anyone (that is not masochist) should use Rapidshare these days? Please don't tell me that something good can come out of it if we pay/were premium members, that will never be the solution. I rather get everything I want from free torrents even if it means waiting for a lot of time than paying a website to make my life easier. The internet should remain free.

I am well aware that in time, most of these services will have the same issues but until the day Megaupload or any others are way worse than now, I won't keep using Rapidshare because it's popular. The good old times are gone.

I dont know why everyone is saying RS speeds are terrible... i get my max possible net speed with them (atleast on premium account) I think they were still as good on the free account.
Though Megaupload seems to have so many more benefits if your on a few account then rapidshare free account.

i never liked RS. MU alway the top choice for me. Their manager is awesome. I download max speed with or without premium and rs alway cap out on speed. MU get the votes and thumbs up from me. Suck to see there isn't as much MU upload as RS on here =/.

I think im going to put a month membership (premium) on megaupload...
i had my 1month on RS and 5gb a day limit is to less... so i purchased 100gb share but that ran out.. and my account is still active for like 2weeks more...

So ill try megaupload... see how speeds are... hopefuly no waiting at all with it and no limits whats so ever... only downside is most people do post RS links as ihpauto1 said on tehparadox.

Frankly I do not like MU. Rapidshare until it is good, but the daily download limit makes me look for other sites to download and upload.

They are good. But I prefer others. Hard to say which one is best or what deos two I prefer.

I use them only to download files, so i prefer MU, because I don't have to wait more than 1 o 2 minutes between each download.

Unless your on premium MU though ur still getting a download limit and once u hit it u can't download for so Many hours...
Bought premium yesterday it seems good so far with speeds and such. Prefer jdownloader then megauploaderr though

I really wish people would upload with MU... it is so much nicer.. as RS download limit = fail

When I download on RS with no premium account my download is so slow, and when I download on MU with a free account I still get full download speed.

And as many people already said it, I also dont like the limit of 2GB each day, I mean common, you've paid for a premium account on RS and you still get a limitation, thats so lame..

So I think Megaupload is better than Rapidshare.

Megaupload is my pick, and always has been.

If not for the popularity of RapidShare I wouldn't even consider paying for one of their premium accounts.
