From the poll results as of today, it is evident that most feel as i do...that megaupload is far better than rapidshare (I have both). For the benefit of those who consistently upload to rapidshare, hotfile, etc...even with multiple links in a post, do not include megaupload. WHY?...exclude megaupload When providing multiple dload links, even though it is more likely someone Will dload from a megaupload link.

For a free user, MU is way better than RS. The speed is faster, the size limits are better, and the wait times are shorter.

From a downloader's point of view without premium accounts and by the hand of experience: I am looking at 3 of the most populair one-click host sites; Rapidshare, MegaUpload, Hotfile. At this moment (08-14-2010) I experience that MegaUpload is the best of them all. Because; MegaUpload is faster than at least Rapidshare for mb/s in downloading terms (what takes 1 file to download via RS is around 3 files from MU if each file is the same size). Note, I experience this daily, and times vary from early afternoon to late in night time. So I assume it isn't a rush hour issue. MegaUpload is also better than Hotfile, simply because Hotfile requires more waiting time between each download, in addition to the annoying ReCAPTCHA which can cause inconvenience for JDownloader and what not. Now, I mainly use hotfile, but rapidshare during happy hours ain't that bad either. I'm considering switching to MU when my hotfile expire =/ 'noticed hotfile's download speed ain't that high as I'm getting from rapidshare.. wut' | ||

Is it safe to assume that all files uploaded to a free Megaupload account do not expire? Even files that were uploaded outside a MU acc have not expired as I checked. Did I missed something? I mean, if no one downloads these files or login to MU accounts, they do not remove any data? Their FAQ states that after 90 days without downloads, the files are deleted (21 days if you didn't used a free account). And that premium accounts store those files indefinitely. About RS: I have saw many times expired files there... that's why I am asking this for MU. |

I changed from rapidshare premium to netload premium.. rapidshare is actually faster than netload: With rapidshare I get an average of 1,8 Mbytes/s or more, with netload I can be happy to have overall an average of 1,4 Mbytes/s. The problem with netload is that it slows down in the last fourth of a file considerably, before it's just as fast as rapidshare. Nonetheless I stay now with netload because there is no traffic-max, I can download as much as I want per month and pay only once per month. In rapidshare I was forced to pay twice or three times per month because the traffic-max got reached. The other thing is that rapidshare lost some lawsuits in german courtrooms forcing it to do things that deter uploaders so that in the long run rapidshare will probably dry up and uploaders will look for greener pastures, this got only excaberated by new rules that reduce the rewards for uploaders. |
