Here in Holland we basicly have 2 choices, more power for the corporations or more governmental control. As a socialist I'll pick the last one.

You mean all that data from the FDA scientists?
Or the scientists that depend on government money to stay funded?
Big corporations have the government in their back pocket.
What they want, they get.

No one knows what the long term effects of this crap will do to people down the road.
Nor do they know what could happen with cross pollination.
Only time will tell. Just hope it doesn't go the wrong way.

As for the part about selective breeding?
Didn't a certain leader want to do that in the late 30's to mid 40's?
Makes me wonder what's next on their agenda.
He who runs the food supply dictates world policy.

wtf jack, proving Godwin right yet again lol.

And so what now, governments are going to all be run by big business.
We are all prols, bowing to our rich and mighty overlords?

Well mankind has certainly progressed, NOT

As an actual Vermonter, I'd like to point something out: The bill, and the coverage of the bill bake an absolute mess in conflating GMO's and synthetic compounds. While the headlines are about forcing labeling GMO's as not 'natural', my understanding it that it's actually about a synthetically produced chemical used in many so-called 'natural' foods. The chemical (whose name escapes me) is not a GMO, as it is not an organism.

Actually, my only comment on this is that it's Monsanto that's mostly responsible for the obesity problem in America. Soft drinks are a perfect example. If soft drinks were made with real sugar, even with the same number of calories, the body would readily burn most of that sugar. But, because of pressure from people like Monsanto, all the sugar has been replaced by high fructose corn syrup which your body does not burn as readily. And, with the number of soft drinks the average American drinks, regardless of their other eating habits, they end up being fat pigs...

:)

That reminds me of PepsiCo doing it's "throwback" to cane sugar. The first generation of Mountain Dew Throwback actually had less sugar than (and I think the same sodium as) regular Mountain Dew.

That was my example... I'm a confirmed Mountain Dew addict, which is why I want to see Monsanto burn in hell...

Mountain Dew throwback.
Love that stuff!
Reminds me of the time when soda tasted better because it used sugar.
And yes! It does have less calories then the corn sugar crap!
