Default Olympics: NBC fails yet again...

NBC was pummeled by viewers who took to social media after the network cut away early from the closing ceremonies of the London Games on Sunday to air a new television show, drawing outrage from those who tuned in for the highly anticipated musical spectacle.

The Twitter-sphere exploded - with "#NBCfail" and "#closingceremonies" trending worldwide - after NBC cut out performances by Ray Davies, Kate Bush, the Who and Muse in favor of a commercial-free airing of "Animal Practice."

"I still don't understand, it's a tape delay, so can't you do the math in advance? Why do you need to cut off the closing ceremony? #nbcfail," wrote Raj Sarkar on Twitter.

Actor Nate Barlow posted to his Twitter account: "Why #nbcfail ranks last: no better way to turn people off a new show than to preempt @thewho & other rock legends for it."

The network was under fire for much of the 16 days of the Games by viewers who took to Twitter and Facebook to complain about its tape-delayed coverage of big ticket events, which NBC has said was necessary to maximize its prime-time audience.

Highly Anticipated? I'm sorry, but it was pure crap. I've seen better displays from street performers.

No shit, the performers where child and adult volunteers. Not professionals.

NBC did not fail again. It's all part of the same failure that started 2 weeks ago.

After watching the edited coverage for two weeks did anyone actually believe that they were going to get the entire 2012 Olympic Closing ceremonies broadcast on NBC? Seriously?

It was a given that they would pick and chose what they would present. Why would anyone harbor any allusions that the closing ceremonies would be different? LOL

I didn't - which is why I took advantage of one of the many downloads of BBC's broadcast. They became available in abundance immediately after the event was finished. So.... much Thanks to all those who took the time to post the broadcast!

Ya, after awhile I was beginning to wonder if any other country had National Anthems because they kept playing only America's. It was very disappointing that they wouldn't show anyone elses when they won gold. Oh well USA still took the most medals, and the most gold home so I'm happy with the athletes. They kicked ass. Disappointed in our media however, like always.

Bob Costas is an IDIOT! You couldn't watch the Olympics for his stupid mug and his worthless dribble! Only NBC ( worst network on TV ) would hire the 0ickhead! ( I'm not a Costas fan if you don't know!)

Why does it need to be a tape delay anyway? You think we are going to use genjutsu or something on you?

NBC... They must obviously think everyone watching is as dumb as they are!

I heard they got booted out of the boxing area by the IOC for being disruptive?!. Then they turned around & said they were leaving anyway cus there's no American boxers in it!! Haha!. How true that is I dunno.

Hmmm...

Sports Illustrated did publish an article written by the AP:
Quote:
NBC Sports is telecasting the final two days of the Olympic boxing tournament without announcers Bob Papa and Teddy Atlas in the arena following a dispute with international boxing officials.

The International Boxing Association asked Papa and Atlas to move from their seats close to ringside to a broadcast booth farther away because they were "very disturbing" to boxing officials, even during bouts they were not calling, said the group's spokesman, Sebastien Gillot.

He said the broadcasters claimed they didn't want to stay anyway because no U.S. boxers were in the running.

It's not clear why Papa and Atlas, who have at times been critical of the boxing judges and referees during the tournament, were suddenly judged too disturbing with only two days of boxing remaining.

"There are two sides to every story," NBC Sports spokesman Greg Hughes said. "We will address the matter with the IOC after the games conclude."
