so true...

i competed in men's gymnastics for 5 years and always hated doing that pose at the end, i wanted to yell out "F*** YEA!!!"
Mind you the pose is not the same as the women's but still...

I'm sure they'd love to do that!

I think that 'ta daa' position has to with control. One of the hardest parts of finishing those events are the landing. Imagine coming off that motion. The judges need a definite start and end point. Precision.

I spent a spell of my across-the-board sport career as a high jumper, went about competitions while in 8th grade and few grades of high school. All we had was a big comfy mattress to land on, no ridicilous posture required.

Even back than watching your kind of guys, it puzzled us why that posture was required. Those guys deserved at least a HELL YEAH moment, mabye a Rocky Balboa dance, but not that "ta daa" pose.

I know why they do it, finish is an important as the jump and flip itself, but that "ta daa" posture keeps me puzzled.

Let's face it, doing a kung-fu airborne flip and landing like Scarlett Johansen in Iron Man 2 would be far cooler than reaching for the sky and thanking God your neck is still functioning enough to keep your head from keeling over.

PS - I've never said "ta daa" as many times in my entire life than I have in this post. I wish you could see my posture for breaking that record.

I think the posture shows that your body is in balanced state right after you finished that jump and landing, which shows that you've done it "perfectly". I don't think it's about cool or not. Then what posture do you suggest instead of the current one, would be better?

If I have to explain it, you didn't get it. Or was it simply a bad attempt of humor on my end.
