Default R.I.P. Steve McNair

Steve "Air" McNair
1973-2009

Music City has lost a hero.
Steve McNair has passed to the after-life.
Mac9 was a true warrior, he will "most definitely" be remembered as a TITAN...
He did so much for the people of this city on and off the field. He was a true role model for young men. I have cried so much for him today. I pray for his wife and family.
Please, pray for them and always speak of Steve well, as he was truly a great man.

Remember the Titan.

Pardon my ignorance, but what did he die from?
36 seems such a young age to die, especially for someone who should be potentially healthy and extremely fit as a sports person.
My condolences to his family.

McNair died from a gunshot wound to the head, along with another female within the building he was in was found dead. Steve Mcnair was a good guy within the NFL. I hope we don't find any dirt on this one in the future.

I guess it just depends where in Australia you reside.
I don't know of anyone who follows anything to do with Gridiron (American football)
Everyone I knows says they wouldn't survive in a real game like Australian football, where it's skin on skin, and skulls crashing, not all the protective gear.

Please, don't complain about my comments folks, this is not meant to be an insult to other members, traditions, or players especially, the deceased

Personally, I hate the game, regardless of where it is played!

Thankyou for your replies, mates.

The Metro police are pretty tight lipped about this incident and I do not wish to speculate or spread rumors as to why he died. Nashville protects their own.
McNair held camps for children in poorer areas. He had just opened a restaurant, called Grid Iron 9 near the TSU campus, to give the black community a place to eat inexpensively and try to improve the area there. I cant begin to tell you guys how many times this man was listed as questionable or doubtful on injury reports and come Sunday afternoon he strapped it on and willed his team to win through injuries most modern athletes would never risk their careers playing through.
@Gandolph13
I respect rugby and Aussie rules. If there was a man in the NFL who could play any sport it was AIR McNair. He played with a cracked sternum. He was so humble and never shied away from contact. You hit #9 and you usually got the worst of the contact. He played at Alcorn St. a small Division II or III school in Mississippi and finished 3rd in the Heisman Trophy voting. Stats are usually what get you into the Hall of Fame, but no stats could tell the tale of this man's courage and leadership.

No one is perfect, we all have our flaws. Being a professional athlete in America, infidelity must be the hardest thing to battle.

Metro just held press conference:
McNair was shot multiple times (including gunshot wound to the head).
The woman was shot once in the head and the pistol was found near her body.
Nothing has been ruled out, although it seems to be based on the wounds a murder-suicide.
Heaven awaits our Titan hero, rest easy mac

I can't see Steve doin suicide. More like a boy friend of the girl did them both. They were shot multiple times--like a crime of passion--. I wonder what his wife and kids think! Some people have it all and THROW it away for so little! RIP Steve!

I always have the highest regard, and respect, for those who came from nowhere, and nothing, and made it to the top of their game, but still remembered where they came from, and do what they can to give back to the ones they left behind.
This is the mark of a true man/women.
Should I ever get lucky enough to win the big one, more than half would go to varying charities around the world, only, I wouldn't give cash, I would employ the necessary personnel to give a means to improve the way of life for others, like fresh water for the children in various parts in Africa.
Donating to charities only sees the CEO's getting a bonus.

RIP kind sir!

I found this tribute posted where I get my Football games. Thought I would share it.
Three small video files of the 99 Superbowl Tennessee Titans. It was the year the team changed its name and opened up their home the Coliseum (currently LP Field). They went undefeated at home. The team was stacked with athletes: Heisman Trophy winner, Eddie George HB; Lorenzo Neil, FB; Steve "Air" McNair, QB; Derrick Mason, WR; Frank Wychek, TE; Jevon Kearse (rookie), DE; Samari Rolle, CB and many others.
This year the Titans became an official part of Music City history, and with the music city miracle, Nashville became a part of NFL History.
Steve was a huge part of this team, but it wasn't until the next few years that he really stepped up and became the face of the team: a true warrior leader, and a MVP.

We love you Steve

Could a mod please delete this thread. I appreciate all the comments and prayers for Steve and his family. It helped a lot. I have moved on and it depresses me to see this in my thread list. Thank you.
