Look, this isn't about conservative or liberal with me. I'm a moderate, pretty close to center. I'm sort of liberal on some issues and conservative on others.

The extremists, the far right and the far left, are equally culpable as far as i am concerned. They are both dangerously skewed in their approach and demands on others' behavior.

It is Sarah Palin's words and actions that I have a problem with. Heck, I don't even have a problem with most of her professed political and personal beliefs. She is entitled to them. I believe in freedom, except where it injures others.

Her actions belie (did I spell that right?) her oratory though. Sarah Palin has demonstrated that she is a dangerous person when she is given power and position. Not trying to get into religion here, but the Bible is full of wisdom, and I will loosely quote a verse from Corinthians here, "The Devil comes disguised as an angel of light."

I believe this applies to Sarah Palin. IMO, she is not a good person. She is a fraud. She is dangerous. She is evil.

Other than that, I think she's cool.

Charlie

As I said, Saturday Night Live and senseless attacks.
When she is convicted of something, give me a call.

For if you could, it'd mean she'd be running in YOUR state, not mine.

I have friends in AK that had to deal with this woman several years before she came onto the national stage. As Mayor of Wasilla, even before she was Gov. I didn't get my information from SNL - that was just frosting on the flake - um, cake.

I'm always amazed when people choose to favor candidates based on gonadal factors.
So she was ELECTED mayor.
Than she was ELECTED governer.
The key word here (in case you missed it) is ELECTED.
Perhaps these friends you speak of VOTED for her.
If you want 'flake facts' on everyone else, go to Google.
You already do that a lot anyway.

I do read the news, perhaps you use Google to run your life. I don't know. I do know you seem to be getting off topic. A bit defensive?
To get back to the topic you choose to avoid, if people would have left this woman alone after the election, I for one wouldn't even know her name. I barely remembered it back then. Maybe I like to fight for the underdog.
Well, have fun with soon to be Arizona Senator Palin.

That's unfortunate. She's part of the conversation and an important part at that. She has taken the lead of a significant number of Americans and their beliefs on not only how we should live, but how we should care for ourselves and one another. So I believe she is relevant to all Americans, whether they follow politics or not.

If my source of this titled article was the one to get you upset, I'm certain I can find other, more reputable sources if you'd like and with a less jilted and scathing tone.

I think it's great you like to fight for the underdog. Hopefully my approval hasn't shied you away now of such an important thing. You have every right to do so and I would personally be open to anything anyone has to say about Palin that is positive. Like Charlie, I too have paid some attention to hear her speak and I haven't watched SNL for 20 years, so I'm not sure what relevance it has to do with this, other than them making fun of people, but when has that been any different of any figure they portray that is in the most recent spotlight? In any case, she has said some very unfortunate and misguided things in the past and like many (all in most cases) politicians, they are in a position to be scrutinized because they represent the silent majority.

So now... I'm asking you or anyone else. Please educate me on the positives that Palin has brought and is bringing to the people of this country. I do know she has sparked much needed debate on several things from: Health care, Planned parenthood, Wall street and the recent bailouts, etc. But all I've heard from her is the squeaky wheel role, with no apparent fix other than, vote against anything a Democrat is for, no matter the topic. If this is how you feel the two major political parties should continue to do things and throw out all bipartisanship then that's your right and you are certainly not alone.

I ask you to believe your own eyes and ears, not Google. As I said, use it to search. You will see a clip showing her doing and saying those things. Every one of those quotes is there for you to see and hear coming out of her own mouth.

My source was HER.

Of course at this point, I don't expect anything one way or the other. If you cared for the truth, you would already have done the research and seen her in action. If you haven't, it is because you either can't bear being proven wrong, or you refuse to see anything that upsets your cherished beliefs and prejudices.

I would like to point out that Hitler was elected.

Since it seems I'm describing a rainbow to a blind man, and trying to bring the uninformed into the light of day appears to be futile, I'm going to quote one other Man. If you want to know who said it, look it up.

You can Google it.

"There is none so blind as he who will not see."

Charlie

P.S. One more... "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Voltaire

P.P.S. ... This is for whoever (whomever?) it applies to. "If it don't apply, let it fly."

P.P.P.S. shonymat, that was one of the most thoughtful, pointed and intelligent posts that I have ever seen on this site.

plasty, you are out of line.

Your attack of nofile404 is petty and unwarranted. I never would have believed that you would stoop so low. Cheap shots. Garbage.

You constantly use the same souces that you are attacking others here for using. How many times have you posted from them in the last week? Month? Year? How long have you been here? Let's see...

As someone who has attained much of their reputation and status here on the backs of news services, blogs, Google, etc I can hardly believe that you would say what you have said here. It is some of the most hypocritical manure that I have ever seen. I didn't know sh!# could be piled that high.

My opinion of you was indeed high as a mountain, but at this moment it has dropped into the sewer, where you apparently have decided to pull up your rhetoric from.

Shame on you.

Shame.

BTW, I know where you get most of your stuff. I thought of posting some from that site myself, but you always had posted it first. You apparently have the site open while you spend time here and post stuff from it as soon as it appears. As I said... hypocritical. Unbelieveably so.

Charlie

Every "discussion" involving Sarah Palin always results in this.

All I can say about her is, if she runs for President and should somehow win, hide "the football"...

we had a sudden rise (and fall, thankfully) of a conservative much like this. She represented much the same conservative side of society which this woman represents. I would genuinely fear for the near (not just the next 50yrs from an ecological/environmental) future if this woman made President. She'd press the button.

Very true words, shony. I wish more politicians could dislodge themselves from the ever-popular "squeaky wheel" role. The debate over the national debt for example seems to consist almost entirely of Republicans and Democrats alike decrying the other's plans as unfeasible and irresponsible, without offering any better options. Palin seems to be one of many (she made the transition to pundit after all) who is more comfortable attacking than discussing.
