Default U.S. Govt: Megaupload Users Should Sue Megaupload

Quote:
The U.S. Government says it’s in no way responsible for the millions of Megaupload users who have lost access to their files due to the criminal proceedings against the file-sharing site. Responding to a motion from one of the site’s users, the Government explains that no “irreparable harm” has been done. Instead of targeting the Government, disadvantaged users should sue Megaupload or its hosting company Carpathia for damages.

Short summary of historical events:
  1. First the government wrecks a company that is "under the suspicion of several crimes" before any trial has taken place.
  2. Legit users want their files back.
  3. MegaUpload and Carpathia have tried to bring forth a solution to facilitate file retrieval for uses.
  4. The MPAA and US gov wipe any solution off the table proposed by MU & Carpathia.
  5. The US gov and the MPAA deny any responsiblity why legit users can't get their files back.
  6. And to put a nail in the coffin, the US gov now tells MU users to sue MU and Carpathia if you can't get your legitimate files back.

As greasy as ever.

Like on 8 out of 10 cats... we may have a Monarch which we can't control but Americans are actively making bad decisions on who is in power.

I know that the government see us as sheep, but do they really think we're that blind when it comes to this subject? They did so much sh*t in the last few months, illegally, and then after almost screwing a companys business, they say to their users taht they should sue Megaupload?

I'm still waiting for Dotcom's lawsuit against them. I will enjoy it very much.

Actually, this is part of their tactics to bring MU down for keeps... If the government was sure about their case, they'd say that legit users could petition them for the return of the files after the trial... But, they are losing more ground every day, and stand a good chance of losing this altogether...

So now they are trying to get people to sue MU, so that it ends up bankrupt and out of business... I wish them luck finding enough idiots to even make a small dent in MU's after trial finances...

:)

the "suit" thing is a smoke screen. the real outcome they seek would be the annihilation of the files prior to Dotcom's lawyers going through them for defense reasons.

I'm not sure how encouraging "legitimate users" (all 3 of them) to sue MU would result in the annihilation of the files. Unless they are hoping a civil court would place an injunction on MU handling the files until they are returned to their rightful owners. But even then, wouldn't that also take them out of the FBI's hands?

:)

Is there ANY country on God's green Earth that isn't controlled by the United States Government? This is coming from an extremely concerned United States citizen. (P.S. The V For Vendetta Initiative shall be started!)

no Adan, it is money. they want to delay anything like that to the point that the maintenance of the servers is the bigger issue, thus the destruction of the data.

I get the feeling that the good ones probably don't have as much control as they deserve and whether they'v made the right decision by who they've voted for is probably something they cant be sure of.

I don't know if you've realised, but this whole story involves New Zealand, and they are proving to everyone that the US gov CANT just push everyone around like you just implied that they do.

I know US citizens are dumb ass when it comes to suing other peoples for stupid things but I really doubt it they will sue Megaupload. The one that should be sue is the US government

At the rate things are currently headed, I smell an early Apocalypse in the file-sharing industries.
