And once more the defense didn't get better. You wouldn't need a alot of knowledge of the sport to notice that the germans had by miles more unity. If you compare the dutch team of now to that of 2 years ago, two complete different teams. It's just humiliating.

The return tickets aren't booked yet, there's still a small chance for Holland to stick around if they win 2-0 from Portugal and Denmark loses from Germany. I don't doubt that Germany will win, but I believe Denmark can't score any points either.

As how it looks, its either that Germany & Portugal go through, or Germany & Holland.

Well Holland are currently trading at 7-1 to go through the group stages on betfair Lib so if you,re confident...... a 1000 euros will win you 7000!! You fancy that bet?
I,m a big fan of the dutch team through the years and the fans even more so.........but as a gambler I can tell you they are the most costly team to ever put money on!!
Theres a big chance the Germans will play a second string team in the last game ......Ronaldo cant play as bad against you as he did today ......its not looking good mate

Nice game. Portugal is overrated with all due respect. If you add up the value of all the players from Portugal, it is the second cheapest after Sweden in this tournament. And if you consider that Ronaldo makes for one fourth of the value of the team, it tells a little story about the quality of the average player.
On the other hand, Germany has the second most expensive team after Spain. The Netherlands have a great but incomplete team, because their midfield and forwards are excellent, but the defense is pretty lame, and as the saying goes, a forward wins a match but the defense wins a tournament. I am actually expecting to see Germany against Spain in the final, if Germany beats Italy in the semi final. But then, I have been wrong, before.

^^ Exactly.. Even if we don't go by their club values.. the quality is clearly visible.. Except Nani today there was nothing else worth mentioning in Portugals performance..
Denmark had a good number of chances they way they breached Portugal's defenses..

Germany looks good all throughout.. Other teams don't.. I didn't see Spains first match closely but I still think Germany is going to go all the way even if they meet Spain in the knockouts.. and when you look at German's bench.. they have got some world class senior players who can provide value the team might need in last few minutes as substitutes.. Loew plays his games very well..

Come on, I know you Brits tend to be defeatists if it comes to odds, but I'm not that pessimistic Ano. :p I said it was a small chance for us to go through, which sounds quite realistic enough.

Oh and mr. Denmark, you can already start booking your tickets home!

Edit:
And I just got to say, as for the finals, I'd gamble my money on Germany winning this thing.

If youre not that pessimistic then put your money on ....I,m only giving you the info my friend.I studied statistics at uni so have always gambled ........if you think Holland have a better chance than 1 in 8 of going through then its a good bet.I bet based on probabilities not patriotism and I wouldnt put money on England to win the championship
But as an advertisement of your chances of going through I can get roughly the same return on you going through or the final being Spain v Germany.....which do you think is the most likely to happen now and hence would you put money on? haha

Du må være fra forstanden, vent et øjeblik (You must be out of your mind, wait a moment) :)))

Kidding, of course well, we'll see, Perhaps Germany doesn't need to win against Denmark, it depends on the other results of course. So I don't think they will run as mad if the result is unimportant for their qualification. As I said, we'll see

If that happens and Germany doesn´t necessarily need to score a win against Denmark it may get even worse for Denmark. Loew will take this chance to grant the current top players of the last game a pause to recover and will bring the young substitutes in like Goetze, Reus, Guendogan and Schmelzer. Those youngsters will play like hell to show off and get a second chance to play in the tournament. And looking at the last two seasons of the german league and Borussia Dortmund´s games from where those four are from, they are able to give Denmark hell. Germany has got some awesome talents on their bench. That probably won´t increase Denmark´s chances.

But I favour Denmark over Portugal, as they showed awesome fighting spirit and came back after laying behind 2:0 whereas Portugal has yet to impress me. Denmark would have earned it.

@yesterday´s game: What happened to Oranje? Except for 2 or 3 really good actions the whole team was all over the place, it felt chaotic and amateurish. Though they were a bit better than in the last test game against Germany they still made the same mistakes and gave a bad performance overall. Seems like Bert van Marwijk really isn´t able to bring some unity into this team. And his habit of still bringing his son-in-law van Bommel into the game from the beginning is just stupid. van Bommel´s good days are over for quite some time now and they both know it. Family values have no place in a big tournament, van Marwijk realized that a little too late when he replaced him yesterday after the first half.

At the end when looking at the Netherlands in their current state, they deserved those two defeats as they would deserve to lose the whole group phase. In their current form they simply don´t qualify as a top team and this bad experience may help them to make the necessary decisions for the future and work to become a top team again.

Oh and btw:

Like a boss

Germany´s defense star Hummels after being able to shoot two times at their goal (though the keeper was able to block both).

The real tournament will begin at the next stage when you need absolutely to win to stay into the competition. Some teams are better in the first stage, when they just need to win points but at the next stage when the level of pressure is higher, they don't play the same.
Nethertheless, this game between Portugal and Holland will be pretty hot. If you remember the last time they played together (2006 World Cup), the game was a slaughter, with a lot of yellow and red cards.
