Yeah, and he could have just said "the mortality rate data doesn't support this", put in 1 link and been done with it... Now I need a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID - Ibuprofen in this case) to get rid of the headache I got from trying to read all that....

It's mind boggling. Once again money won the day.

It will always bug me to hell that money can get the rich out of any thing, even causing someone else's death...

My mom had severe arthritis and was also plagued with heart issues, and included open heart surgery. She spent her lifetime using her hands for sewing activities. Arthritis was a living hell for her. She swore by Vioxx. Of all her medications this the one she eagerly took. Now after reading this and some other info, I'm thinking it probably contributed to her death too. Hard to tell though considering the elderly tend to take multiple medications.

Apparently heart issues with Vioxx were an accidental discovery of studies conducted to monitor gastrointestinal problems. They were swatted to the side.

There seems to be a lot of documentation proving that specific people chose to ignore, downplay, omit data and cover up heat issues right from the start of Vioxx use. FDA included. Did they really need to wait 5 years before pulling it? Once again it would appear that the great American $$$'s takes priority, in the Land of the Free.
