Default You'll Like this Book if you Like....

I just finished reading Close Your Eyes (2012) by Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen. It was pretty good, but then I've enjoyed most of Iris Johansen's novels.

If you like the TV show The Mentalist you'll probably enjoy this novel. I really liked it. It features a couple of original and very strong characters and it appears they may have set it up perfectly to be the first book of a new series. At least I hope so!

Anyone interested in the book title can find the post here:
Mystery, Suspense & Thrillers Ebooks

~~~~~~~
Please feel free to share any books titles here - I'm always looking for recommendations! My interest are running with Mystery/Suspense as of late.
Thanks for the suggestion. As for Suspense I would suggest Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca that in my opinion is a very good classic of that genre, but of course you already know it
Have you read Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose. It's a historical mystery. I did love it. :D
The only contemporary mystery that I can recommend (since it's the one I've been reading now) is Nero Wolfe Mystery by Robert Goldsborough. I haven't read the Rex Stout originals yet. Daniel Know series of Will Adams and P.D. James' Dagliesh series. Or maybe you've read them already. :D
Thank you for the Iris Johansen recommendation rainbowspinner. This is very timely as I am close to finishing my Cindy Gerard TBR pile and am looking around for another author. Who else would your recommend? Other romantic suspense authors I like are Linda Howard, Elizabeth Lowell and Julie Garwood. Thank you!
Ahh... I think I first got introduced to good Romantic Suspense via the above authors you mentioned. Those are all on my auto buy list. They're still some of my favorites.
Sandra Brown belongs in with the authors mentioned above. Try the last book she put out "Lethal" to see if she fits. That was a good one and her latest. Another one of those authors who puts out maybe One book a year. She use to write some really good strictly-romance too.
I've done all of Cindy Gerards books too. If you liked her books I think you would really enjoy:
Roxanne St. Claire's "Bullet Catcher" and "Guardian Angelinos" series.
Cherry Adair (any and all)
Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters series.
Sharon Sala just started a new series Rebel Ridge.
Nora Roberts does some good romantic suspense books too - she's pretty much an all around must read for me. Can't miss with Nora Roberts! She's just a great writer. Try one of her stand alones (if you haven't read them already) The Witness , Chasing Fire, The Search or Black Hills. There's lots more.
Maya Banks' The Kelly Group International series.
Brenda Novak's Last Stand, Hired Gun and Bulletproof series are highly recommended.
Catherine Mann's Elite Force series. Entertaining original stories with the hot guys factor.
If you like the serial killer type of romantic suspense there's:
Lisa Jackson's New Orleans and Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescol series.
Allison Brennan and Karen Rose, and Karen Robards. Take your pick. These lean a little toward thriller elements. These tend to be a little more intense.
Kay Hooper is another of the old time writers on my must reads list that leans towards a touch of thriller. Another writer who takes her time writing. Just finished her latest book Haven. Did not disappoint. Her last 6 series - Stealing Shadows, Evil, Fear, Blood Trilogy and the newest book Haven are really all one related series so you get the best back story if they're read in order. Small paranormal element with these as the main characters usually have psychic abilities.
One other series I really enjoyed was J.D. Robb's (Nora Roberts in disguise) In Death series. It's a little bit fantasy but only because it's set in the future. But otherwise it's realistic with neat futuristic quirks. Good Romantic suspense! I think you might really like Eve and Roarke.
There are so many many good reads out there. LOL. I know something important was left out. This should give you a starting point. All of these should be here on site somewhere. If not or Any problems send me a private message and I'll be glad to help.
Wow! Thank you rainbowspinner for your romantic suspense recommendations and descriptions of each. How did I forget Nora Roberts?! I've read a few of her books and yes, they're good. I shall do a site search and try some of your recommendations. A friend mentioned Tami Hoag as well, so she will also be on my list. Finding this site, book threads and all the dedicated, hardworking contributors like yourself, bookdragon, cirmar, czika, snorlax ... Too many to name!...is like winning a lottery into book heaven!
Thanks for the rec. I don't normally read romantic suspense beyond the pulpy old gothics of the 60s and 70s, but I don't mind branching out a bit in that genre. :)
Didn't read the book but saw the movie (Sean Connery and a young Christian Slater) which I enjoyed. Always planned to go back to the book. One of these days!!
I've read the synopsis you linked to and it sound not unlike Sherlock Holmes. By the way, The Mentalist is also based on Sherlock Holmes. So I would recommend the Arthur Conan Doyle stories, if you haven't read them already. There is no romance, though.
Another book that I liked very much was Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy by John Le Carre. I absolutely loved it and I couldn't wait to get back from work to see what happened next until I finished it. The first chapter is a bit slow, though, and there is no romance in it, either.
ok .. suspense thriller and romantic suspense are my fav genre.. so cant help but add my own suggestions.. :P
for romantic suspense in harlequin i liked suzanne brockmann's earlier books the seal series specially "tean 10/ troubleshooter series" ..then there is beverly barton and paula detmer riggs.
for those who are only into suspense thriller with a strong female cast or a good storyline i have discovered this author "mary higgins clark"... she surprises me.. writes suspense novels involving a variety of topics like twin bonding, to kidnapping, molestation, heart transplant to psycological trouble, multiple personalities.. each new book of her's is a new topic to remember and a page turner to read.
and wen i like hardcore police/ detective drama i go for james patterson and last but not the least my all time fav in suspense thriller will be sidney sheldon .. may his soul rest in peace ..i love and treasure almost all his books.
If you liked Kendra in Close Your Eyes she is also in Iris Johansen's newest book called Sleep No More and a short story from a little while back called With Open Eyes.
I'm really liking her character.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
