Default My New PC In August, Check the specs

Hi all, just wanted to ask everyone what they think of these specs. My current PC is listed below (I know, it's awful). I will be mainly playing FSX Arma II and III, Battlefield III, The Witcher II etc. I have about 1000 pounds to play around with, and at the current build, it reaches about 950 pound. What can I improve upon but stay within my budget? Am I spending too much on one item? Check the specs:

My current PC:

9600GT 512MB
2GB DDR2 RAM
7850 Dual Core AMD Processor

New PC:
Intel I7 2600K = 216.94 Pound
8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance RAM = 55.73 Pound
MotherBoard = Possibly = ASUS 1155 SABERTOOTH P67 REV 3.0 = 136.97 Pound
Gigabyte 570 OC Edition = 268.61 Pound
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 High Performance 750W Power Supply = £83.19
Case = Undecided (about 100 pound)
Cooler = Corsair CWCH80 Hydro Series H80 = 74.49 Pound

I'm not looking to build the most powerful PC, or use the most up to date hardware as I am used to hiccups in games and bad frame rates. I just want a PC that is going to last me a while and play the above games at a decent speed.

I would go for the newer 2011 platform. Prices are about the same as the 1155 stuff. Maybe a low-medium priced ATX X79 mobo with an i7 3820? Slightly better performance, quad channel memory, native pci-e 3.0 and usb 3.0, will oc nicely. A tiny bit more future proof.
I can't help you with the budget side of things because I don't know how much this stuff costs in th UK.

i just buld a new gamign rig 2 weeks ago so maybe i can give a few tipps.i bought my stuff with € so i have no clue about how pound scales to €.

- i7 2600k is fine but do u really need the hyperthreading ? cause for gaming u dont.
get the i5 2500k and run it at 4.2ghz in turbo mode with ur water cooling. u can save here some money which can use to get faster gfx card.

- for motherboard i got the Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4 (good review here
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18312497
). it has all the features i need plus its z68 chipset allows me to use the intel HD Graphics 3000 ( on the i5 2500k CPU) to render the stuff i watch with my Potplayer and Firefox (i just use it for those 2) additionally to my Sapphire AMD Radeon 7950 OC Edition with DUAL-X cooler. i always got asus board before but i wasnt happy n had many problems with ASUS with the last 2 boards.

- the gfx card. if u mean the 1280MB Gigabyte GeForce GTX 570 OC with triple cooler..go ahead its a great card. i did read soem reviews on it last year. where i bought my stuff u can get it for 265€ (german hardware shop). in my opinion tho u should maybe try to get a amd hd 7850 or even 7870 just not with reference cooler. u gotta read some reviews for that..IF u are willign to buy a AMD/ati card that is. i always had gforce cards but i got ati this time n im super happy. card is unhearable and i can play wither 2 EE with everythign enabled 16xAF + AA(witcher uses own form of AA so u cant force liek 4xAA) on 1920x1080 without UBERANTIALISING ( u nee dlike 2 cards for thast to stay above 30frames per second in fights ) and i get 60-85 fps in fights and running around in first village.

- PSU. no expirience with coolermaster. i got this one : 580W be quiet! Straight Power CM BQT E8 80+. very efficient and unhearable n cables r modular so if i dotn need em i dont have them in my case. i dont know about water cooling but 850 watts is OVERSIZED.

- RAM. i got Corsair Vengeance LowProfile Black 4 x 4 gb 1600 Mhz but i recommend u to get 1333 n run them at 1600. there is a slight difference in price between 1333 n 1600. 8gigs is absolutely fine. tweaking timings will give u more speed anyways,

are u getting a SSD ? if get a small one. 60-64gb for system only.

anyways feel free to correct me if im giving bad tipps here :) i chek this thread later.

Possibly. Its within my price range. I'm not familiar with the Intel range, so I am gonna check it out.

No, I already have several HDD'S ready to go.

The 850W PSU might be changed, it's there for now because I may add another 570 later on.

Thanks for the mobo link, will check it out.

@OP if you thinking to go for this rig in system in August, the prices will be far cheaper than you stated.

New intel IVY bridge are in almost same cost as sandy, so going with Sandy is not recommended specially when you are getting IVY in almost same cost.

i just build a rig with Sandy as IVY release date was not announced else i would have get that only :D

the rig you are stating is absoulty fine with Z68, i would suggest to get Corsair PSU than Cooler Master.

Wow, that sounds like it's going to be one heavy PC. What's all those pounds add up to in kilograms, I forgot imperial weights years ago.

you dont need a 570 for those games, a 560 will be enough and it will be a lot cheaper

try this mobo

Yeah, I don't actually have the money right now anyway, but I estimate that by august I will have enough.

I'm not really bothered too much about the look of the case. I had a look at some Coolmaster cases which I took a fancy to.

Case is everything :P

I quite like NZXT. My current case is:

Also I would recommend Amazon UK if you can. Scan aren't the best or Ebuyer for after sales imho.

Previous NZXT case

MY current system is simular to the one you are thinking about

I7 2600k @ 4.2
Corsair H50 ( I have the old water cooled version the new H50 is air)
ASUS evo pro p67
same ram 8GB
2 GTX 570 SLI
Corsair 1000 power

I can run BF3 at max settings @ 1900*1200 70-80Fps but need to use 2xaa as the 570's do not have enough vram, with one card it dose 45-50 fps

witcher 2 gets around 65-80 fps @ max settings (uber disabled) @ 1900*1200. with one card 35-50 fps
