Oh I forgot to mention when you mess up the first time and then u uninstall the game make sure to delete the folder in the directory because the files u copied and pasted are still there.

My save games have gone...... 56% complete and they just vannished.
They had been working all week then today...... poof... GONE :(

worked for me, but what I did have to do was create a new steam account through smartsteam, then copy whole smartsteam folder to my offline pcwhere I play My games.

BTW Make Sure Too Switch it to it's Offline Mode before you copy and the steam_appid.txt file is a must to start the game.

The Smart Steam option no longer works.....
I had a few save games that have gone. (it was working).
Tried again since, starting from beginning and saving and they too have disappeared.

On windows xp I installed the skidrow version to an external drive, and used the xavhalo crack which disables all dlcs game killers kicking in at the start.

Everything has been super smooth, except I cant customize my gangs or it crashes.

Personally I would avoid this smartsteam version you guys keep talking about.
KISS, keep it simple.

Also look in task manager for any progs running that might kill the game launching, for example any modified versions of steam may stop a scene release (skidrow release) game from booting.

so in task manager "end" any processess that arent needed for your system to run.

Also Im not sure its such a good idea to force higher res, if the game keeps knocking it back to a lower res, the game maybe trying to lessen the load on your hardware, like prevent possible overheating etc. Higer res = higher processing load

And if you cannot change lower graphic details to higher its because your system does not support higher settings. Like if your running direct x 9, or even if you can run dx10 or dx11, your card may not support the higher settings

you have to launch orginal steam
do not use smart steam

then you can save it

So...is it the consensus that in order to save the game...I have to install Steam? I don't have Steam on my cpu (never really wanted it). Will there ever be a fix?
