Default Would you play the old republic if it was free to play?

I did buy the game but got pissed off at EA for having make me buy the subscription thing before i could continue my 30 days when this all started. Putting in the money up front to play your free 30 days that you were supposed to begin with is just plain robbery. So i just left the game as i did not want to pay 1 more cent to EA right off the bat to get my free 30 days.

But now since the game is going somewhat downhill for subscriptions, you must have read that the game might go free to play. If this does happen. Would you go in again?

cheers!

Well, I wouldn't because I don't usually like the f2p models (perhaps I should try more?) Also, you realize all MMOs require you to subscribe before you can get your 30 free days too?

Regardless, you pay your money for the box, you should AT LEAST get the 30 days you PAID for first. I totally agree with OP

NOPE!!!! I was part of Beta at the time. That patch that they released with all of those AWESOME and NEW stuff you could do was part of Beta. When they removed it people were telling them that was a big mistake. I don't like SWTOR because it's a Themepark game and not a Sandbox game. I was hoping for something larger, grander. I don't like how everyone has the exact same storyline, and that you can't honestly roleplay with that game, or make your character unique. Every class has the same companion and that bothers me because I was expecting there would be like 50 companions around and you can choose 5 within the 50 depending on your choices.

The nail in the coffin for me to not play the game however was when the devs said they didn't need beta testers and that they don't nor would they listen, so we should just shut up and just enjoy the game.

It specifies what you need on the box, no sympathy for the OP if he can't read.

To clarify, I don't necessarily agree with practice but it wouldn't happen if you pay better attention.

I definitely would be more willing to try it. Anyone expecting anything more open ended really shouldn't have expected it coming from Bioware. For a developer known for their "options" their RPGs are incredibly linear, compared with say, Fallout New Vegas.

I would have agreed to pay after my free 30 days. but in order to get my 30 days i have to subscribe which is complete bullshit and rip off. I remember in the early years of wow that you bought the game, got your 30 days to use and then had to subscribe. And i have checked and they only want to make up to level 15 free 2 play, like WOW, then if you want to continue you would have to subscribe. A lot of MMO bragged that they could cause the downfall of WOW but failed and had to switch over to F2P like Lords of the ring, pirates of the burning Sea, age of Conan, everyone said it would topple Wow and look at where it is now. I can see Kotor headed that way after some time. Bioware and EA wont have a choice. Until then there subscribers will dwindle down.

Actually, you don't have to pay them anything to get your 30 days free. How I know this, well because I don't like credit cards, and the only credit card I have is a pay to use master card, a prepay master card if you will. I had no money one it, 0, and I was able to use my 30 free days.

I agree that having to do that is a bit odd. Why not just give you the 30 days, you bought the damn game in the first place.

But like I said, no money was taken from me for the 30 days. I'm guessing its something they do to make sure if you did enjoy the game you wont worry about it when the time was up.

I would, just not sure how long. I get bore of game pretty quick, even mmo. I don't think I ever stick with an mmo more than one month. I sometime come back for a quick session, but never really stick with anything.

Yes, I would play it. The thing with Old Republic is that it's not a bad game- it's a game that lacks the value to justify it's price. As a free game- it's an excellent option. As a $15/month subscription game, it's a terrible choice because you're just not getting the bang for your buck. The same can be applied to any game really. If WoW were free, I'd play that as well. At the same time, if we flip things around- say it cost me $15 a month to play Call of Duty- I'd instantly become a Battlefield guy.

Would give it a try but it doesnt look that amazing anyway + I am not sure if EA would make a fair free2play model like lets say LotRO.
