Application Xp Terminal Anyone able to edit NVidia GTX 6xx Bios?

Hello people,

I just got a new GTX 670 from Gigabyte (GV-N670OC-2GD) and was playing with the clock rates a little. Too bad NiBiTor 6.06 doesnt support Kepler-GPUs yet.
But some users are apparently able to edit the clock rates within the BIOS (see MVKtech-forums / user Saltius ).

Has anyone an idea how to do that? (I'm not a fan of software solutions e.g. afterburner or eVGA precision)

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Don't mess with the bios.

Use Nvidia Inspector at Windows boot to set your clocks. I'm not a fan of those programs you mentioned either, but Inspector is a jewel of a program.

I have to agree. I updated my bios from gigabyte as BF3 had a lot of issues, whilst if you see a fix that you want, it may be advisable to update (with caution) the bios but I certainly wouldn't update it to a bios with fake details.

I'll be more than glad to assist in this.

Upload a copy of your bios and just explain what you want changed/edited

List the new clocks you want (TEST THEM FIRST! MAKE SURE THEY ARE STABLE)

And fan speed profile (speed of your fans at certain temps)

are there no copies of altered BIOS's out online yet?

Thanks for your opinions @jgiorla & Omega_Prime.
I already use Nvidia Inspector for testing the overclocking capabilities of my card.
I already flashed it with various bioses without any problems (i used the ASUS GTX670-DC2T-2GD5 BIOS and also the Zotac GeForce GTX 670 AMP! BIOS. The Zotac is not bad, but there is room for more.
I tested core 1150MHz / memory 1700MHz (effective 6800MHz) and boost 1200MHz, (fans @ auto) successfully (3DMark 11/Vantage/latest Furmark, BF3 and GTAIV with Icenhancer 2.0N).
So I would like them to be set in the bios from zotac (it's also the latest BIOS i could find out there)

Here is the link to the bios.

Thanks for your interest @ all of you

:) constant 60 fps with 8x antialiasing would do. Sure it's a good card out of the box but why wasting potential?

It's far better then the software solution's, and if folks think it's playing with fire then they better not mess with it.
Only old women and small children should be afraid lol.
Well.. me personally, I don't overclock stuff until a) its past its warranty and b) it is beginning to show its age but that's my opinion

You dont need to overclock it AT ALL!!

Im running a Windforce 3x 570, And I FORCE ALL my games to 8x Sparse-Grid AntiAliasing, With 4x Transparent Supersampling, At 1920x1080/60, I never drop below 60fps!!

Wasting potential? You are reducing the lifetime of your card!

MY ADVISE

Don't ask for help, just read a little bit, search forums and learn how to do it properly.

I'm speaking as an Overclocking Enthusiastic who as burned more than a dozen GPU's

Yea, don't become like him

Why are you guys pushing so much AA etc on hi-res like 1920x1200 or 1080? 8x is little..waste? (speaking theoretically because I never haved chance to run game at such res and big AA lol)

Explain how modifying clocks in the BIOS results in better performance than setting the exact same clocks through software at boot.

The only thing to be gained (lost rather) from flashing the bios is that if one day the card degrades and becomes unstable at your set clocks, your might have a completely non-utilizable card (unless you're capable of re-flashing the stock bios with a black screen).

O.K. guys, I understand every point of view of you all. But the question is not should you overclock your device via software or hardware. I already decided to do it by hardware.
I owned many cards and I always used the bios solution (the last four were two 8800 GTX, a GTX 460, which was a good card and now the 670. What I want to know is modifying the bios of kepler-gpus is only possible due hex editing. I did a lot of research, but it seems just a few people are able to customize bios-settings of a GTX 690/680/670. Does anybody know a simpler way then working through 96kb hex-code?

Just got a modded bios back from Saltius (a user who is modding bios-files at MKVTech.com)
He modded the Zotac GTX 670 AMP! bios to 1150 core / 1700 memory and 1202 boost.
If anyone is interested, here is the rom:

http://www.mvktech.net/components/com_joomlaboard/uploaded/files/Zotac_GTX670AMP_2D_1150_1700_1202.zip
I'm gonna flash it in a few minutes, risky or not :)
Just hope my card doesn't look like this afterwards
...hmm :)
