I've been using Avast, Comodo Firewall and Spybot Search & Rescue for as long as I can remember on my old pc (Pentium 2GHz with 2gb ram). Haven't had any virus infection. I notice slowdown upon initial pc startup, so I'll usually switch it on and leave the pc running for a while (so that the background programs can run or download necessary updates) before starting to using the pc.

Malwarebytes full version. They are Gods, heros of the information age. Give them 24.95, ffs. The license is forever.

Does not slow anything down, ever. And it works.

Forget all about any kind of them Security Suites. There all plenty troublesome and all they do is suck up most of your resources .
I know that this kinda talkin is crazee to most of you folks but trust me when I tell you win7 is much smarter than win98.
Back in the day all them viruses were all made by young little hackers.
Todays kids dont give a shyit about no viruses. All they care is there tweeter and facebook accounts
Just sayin
