Avi splitter? .001 and .002 files

what program is everyone else using to split their avi files for posting,,, my limit per file on mediafire is 200mb, and ive got a 280mb file that i want to post on tehparadox,, ,,, any recommendations?

Winrar is most common (split by volume 200MB).

The .001,.002 files are done with HJsplit.

As long as you don't need that app to join them again it's fine. People get upset when you ask them to install something to watch your download.

With winrar you right click the file, add to archive and in the box marked "split to volume,bytes" you put in 200MB. It's really easy and everyone should already have winrar installed.

I believe a majority of people probably use jdownloader, and it automatically merges files

i dont think people upset using this...
most people upset using HACHAPRO...
becoz they need to rename the 002 file to 001 file..blah2...
also theyre not an english app...spanish if im not mistake....

i think ffsj better than winrar...

Too many people put viruses/trojans in EXE files to take any chances. That said nearly everyone ALREADY HAS Winrar (or jdownloader as DBBA said) and wouldn't need to install an unknown app to watch the video.

I'm with you elitists, winrar & hjsplit. (Personal pref is IDM for download mgmt.)

I remember a few years back on Usenet one guy used to post split files which could only be rejoined using a horrible, unfriendly little app called Splitter - winrar & hjsplit couldn't do it. It was a real PITA but the poster wouldn't change, maybe he had shares in it

HJ-Split is probably your best bet although I think that 7-zip also has the capability to split files...not sure on that one though.

If I were you though I would use Winrar and properly encrypt your files.

I recommend FFSJ Splitter for splitting big files easily and fast (faster than using any archivator like WinRar or WinZip), and if it is a movie you can start watching even if you have downloaded 10% of the .001 file (with videolan player).

About 2 years ago I tried HJ-Split and did not like its interface. FFSJ in my opinion is much better designed.

The "Setup" file is for installing the splitter into Windows Shell (so you can easily split and join files from right-click context menu). The second one does not require installation.
