and not really a coincidence! i wanted it and my older bro over heard me and he knew i needed a new monitor also because well the old one was a fat bulky thing :P so yh he bought it for me :)!

and are you sure its LCD and not LED? apparently the G2420HDBL is LED backlit and G2420HD is LCD backlit
if it is LED, you are lucky. i really want to upgrade my monitor to an LED
i have the Viewsonic VX2739vm 27" full HD with 1ms response and have been pretty happy with it so far, but this is what i really want:

it says LED^^ and that is just the backlight so it is still LCD
1080p on that little thing, I wonder a maxed out 1080p game would look on it.
the best res I can get from my laptop is usually 720p

i dont understand though, your description says LCD display with LED backlight..
dont you mean 'LED' display? on the BenQ website it describes this monitor as an LED monitor and nothing about 'LCD'
lol nevertheless im sure thats the case, and the difference is noticeable too. blu-rays must look awesome on that!

LED is the light source (instead of lamps)
LCD is the picture (LED LCD) is what they are called
LED screens are jumbotrons
