Reading slashdot if you disable the automatic update to the firmware with cloud connect your router's firmware is no longer 'supported'.

Who cares if your firmware is not supported if it works? Cisco must anyway give support within 2-years warranty if you are not using third party firmware, and anyway to change firmware is a very fast operation.

so what? Are they seriously thinking they are not being ridiculous?

The problem is Shawn_7, most people (consumers) wont even notice,,,

I know, too many people who are basically IT illiterate use IT, then go around asking weird questions like 'why can I not go to internet?' 'Why my laptop freezes, I have just 50 programs open, I don't understand what happens' and my favorite 'I don'y understand how to use windows, too many things, I am going to install Linux that I am told is also virus-free so I must not use that nasty AV in the right bottom corner'.
