Megaupload is in Hong Kong and they can still shut it down - US don't need no SOPA & SIPA crap!!!
What are affiliate programs?

it's funny that SOPA and PIPA has been dropped but at the same time all the file sharing sites are being eliminated or targeted one by one.....it's like SOPA had been passed. I wonder why the FBI are being this aggressive now and not before. Also how in hell are they shutting down servers located in other countries?.....very strange!!!!!

It is called political pressure. Have you ever heard of a politician with a backbone? Well I haven't. All the U.S has to do is hint at political fallout because the other country didn't cooperate and well the politicians of the other country will start falling apart. Look at it from the point of view of the politician..what is more valuable...the U.S government as a friend or a file hosting site which probably doesn't care about you anyway.

According to the indictment, Megaupload was using 525 servers in Virginia (not smart), receiving payments from ad companies and paying uploaders located in the USA.

It's not surprising Fileserve would drop their affiliate program to help protect itself.

FileSonic is located in Die Niederlande (The Netherlands) and hopefully will Stand up to the US Politicians - Don;t know about the Movie Moguls though . . .

The point is that you can't just make money from other people's stuff, bottom line. True, it seems that SOPA and PIPA are a way to invade privacy and censor but if you owned a film corp. you'd think this matter differently. It is a complex issue of rights where both sides stand on extreme opposites.

What I think is:
If filesharing sites make money from ads, why won't Universal Music do the same?
If 400 million plus clicks went to Lady Gaga's Bad Romance in Youtube, how much money would they make if they put it on free download with ads?
See the point?
What about Avatar?
How many have downloaded it? Millions. Billions would they have made out of ads.

The truth is they're not ready. This is a global revolution that threatens every record store and potentially every theater in the world.
These people are like dinosaurs now. They have to adapt or they will disappear. They have the money and I am sure they will do it. Greater Internet speeds will allow full hd streaming for free. Add a couple of short ads throughout the stream and you have your money.
Another victim of the sadly effective entertainment (MPAA/RIAA) industry's propaganda machine I see. No, the sites we get our files from are borderline, but definitely not illegal. Otherwise they would've been shutdown immediately, long ago. Certain actions of the uploaders & downloaders are considered 'illegal' by them.

MU and other storage sites need to be smarter by moving to Russia where anti-piracy doesn't take place (i think). I don't remember where piratebay moved to but atleast they found a safe base and still operating.

I got screwed by rapidshare for about the same amount. If you ever do this sort of thing again...withdrawl your cash when you get to $20 which is usually the minuium withdrawl point. I give up on this shit...back to the torrents.

Well, this is a bit of sad news. FileSonic just joined FileServe in removing their affiliate system earlier today. I wonder what other sites will remove theirs, such as MegaShares..

EDIT: As proof, here's the link to FileSonic's affiliate program:
