Hey peoples,
So I've been watching 1080p HiDef for some time through an RGB (VGA) connection from my laptop. I've always been satisfied, but I recently tried out an HDMI cable as I stumbled upon some for sale. The quality immediately went from great to identical to bluray. I was shocked. However, the video playback seems to be almost fast forwarded at times. Movements like walking down steps or just around a room are sped up. Dialogue is fine, but the filming just seems a touch faster than before. Has anyone experienced this? Does that sound like processor inefficiency? Media Player Classic, coreAVC and AMD m880g radeon hd 4200 graphics card are what I'm using.
On a side not, anyone think that 1080p bluray quality is just too damn good? I almost feel as if I'm there with the director watching these people act in real life. It kind of detracts from the movie, I think. I don't know, maybe I'll get used to it.
Thanks a bunch!

i know this probably isnt it cause u would have noticed b4 now but if ur watching on a tv with hdtv blur on it will appear faster without the audio actually being out of sync.

if u have the catalyst drivers installed, check the video settings section and disable pretty much all of it. given that mpc does the same thing while decoding ur video, i found a conflict and then odd slowdown/speedup when they were working together.

I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is, because I notice what you describe when I look at the TVs in stores. The picture seems to be moving too fast, yet the audio seems to be completely in sync with the picture and does not sound sped up at all. I'm going to assume that, since you didn't state it, you are connecting your laptop to a TV and not a monitor. I'm also going to assume that your TV (if LCD) has some kind of 120/240Hz technology and it's not just 60Hz. This feature must have been turned off, or it might not have been available for your VGA input, so the picture looked normal. Just go to your HDMI input, then into your settings and turn that feature off. What it's called will depend on your TV - for example, Sony calls it Motionflow Technology. I believe this is also what aznjsm is suggesting. Last edited by toomuchpie; 08-15-11 at 03:44 AM. |
