Why settle for a basic build of your Firefox browser on Windows Operating Systems when you can have one that is specifically made for getting the most out of your system? Mozilla does not provide optimized browser packages for Windows, meaning you may be losing speed and efficiency when you use your browser; and truth be told, most people use their browsers all the time! That needs to change, so, here is the Pale Moon project: Custom-built and optimized Firefox-based browsers for Windows Operating Systems. Make sure to get the most speed and efficiency out of your browser!

Of course, getting a more efficient browser is not just about optimizing the compilation process (building a program from its source code), but also about carefully choosing features and knowing how to choose the best setup. This means that this browser, however extremely close to Firefox in the way it works, does not have all the functions that Firefox has. A few, carefully selected, features have been disabled that are not in high demand, and that do not interfere with the way web pages are displayed or function; all to maximize speed and efficiency of the browser. Please see the page with technical details to learn exactly what the browser supports, and what it doesn't support. In short, if you need accessibility features or parental controls, then please visit the firefox homepage and get the official, non-optimized build.

With the next generation version (starting with Pale Moon 4), there are also a few other differences that are more obvious and not just "under the hood": contrary to what Mozilla has done with their redesign of the user interface, Pale Moon will continue to provide a familiar set of controls and visual feedback similar to previous versions, including grouped navigation buttons of a decent size, a bookmarks toolbar that is enabled by default, and not in the least a functional status bar.

To download the current version* of the Pale Moon browser, please click below for the web-installer, which will check your system's capabilities and allow a quick choice of browser, or download the installer of your choice by going to the appropriate download page from the menu at the top of this page!

IMHO, this is by far the best web browser for windows operating system. I have been using it for last 6 months (was a devoted chrome and firefox user before that) with near zero crashes or cpu/memory hogging. I would recommend this over usual firefox or chrome.

I'll give it a shot! With their migration tool I was able to keep my FF profile so we'll just see if it's any faster. Maybe work with it for a few days or so to check.

EDIT: Just hit a nasty snag {IMO}. It doesn't allow for Internet Download Manager. I have PM 11 and the IDM CC isn't compatible. Maybe at some point they will get it working but guess I'll have to stick with regular ol' FF for now {'cuz I likes my IDM}. Thanks anyway!!!

Peace to you and yours,
Matthew "Dra'Gon" Stohler

My friend swears by Waterfox, after trying it, I hated it! Maybe I'll give this a go since a few community members like it. Thanks for the post!

Palemoon does work with IDM just takes a bit more work to get it to work. You have to head to the IDM program directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Download Manager might be a different drive or even folder depending on location you chose and the look for the following file idmmzcc.xpi. Copy that to your desktop and then open up palemoon go to addon then go to settings and select install addon from file and select the file idmmzcc.xpi which you placed on your desktop and now it works with IDM.

I tried Palemoon x64 after reading your post. It seemed okay and I didn't really notice any speed difference. My school's email website doesn't work well with it, so I tried the x32 version instead. The site still goes haywire. I have to access the site everyday, so I have no choice but to switch browser again. I then tried Waterfox with my school's website, and everything is back to normal for now. And this time, I notice a faster speed with Waterfox compared to Firefox and Pale Moon. I believe they only offer x64, so x64 hardware and software are required to use the browser. Switching to it was also a breeze. My whole Firefox profile with all the add-ons and everything transferred seamlessly after installation. I'll stick with Waterfox for now until something goes wrong. Waterfox 12 is already out, so I advise anyone of you to definitely give this browser a try and share your thoughts about it. It's basically Firefox at its core, only faster. And thanks for letting me know about this awesome broswer! = )
