Nice for a first post. Good info for people trying to solder. I've been doing this type of repair for years and still pick up tips here and there.

Absolutely useless, my hair dryer doesn't have a small enough nozzle!

I haven't taken to SMD soldering, my eyes are shot and all the parts are becoming so small.
I did however, use to work on hearing aids and all soldering was done under a microscope, but that was nearly 30 years ago and my eyes were better then.

Good post. I done a 2 year stint removing shorts and touching up dry contacts in a factory. The air was so dry and the parts so small my eyes felt like I had sand in them all the time..

I have been in electronics for 41 years. An electronic technician for 38 of those years. I agree with the replies above: Very good job!

Re bad eyesight, yes and then some. Even with eye exercises I easily get cross-eyed working on some of the micro-miniature equipment out there, and that is with a magnifier. Sad, old age sucks. And before someone comments that it is better than the alternative, I don't agree. I am however bound by my word given to my shrink.
