Default Surprise.exe VIRUS!

I got 3 emails from a friend of mine yesterday with a download link to this file. Fortunately I didn't recognize the emails as any that he would have sent so I did some checking around and it seems to be an old virus updated and starting to go around again.
I don't know what all antivirus he's got yet, but he does have AVG and it didn't find anything. So far as I can tell it just sends a link to itself to all the contacts in your email. I'm trying to find a solution to it now, but looks like it's too new yet.
I suggested to him to get HijackThis and send me the log from it. He did mention that somehow he got a toolbar for freeze.com, but that might have happened through a screensaver he might have downloaded - someone else I know had a similar problem with freeze.com.
If anyone knows about this already, post what you can here and maybe help others who aren't aware. And if I do find a solution I'll post it post haste {okay, stupid pun}.

Peace to you and yours,
Matthew "Dra'Gon" Stohler

Cheers dude, i had AVG but got rid of it because it let a virus in. If you using another anti virus you might be safe..... well no one is ever really safe. I would not trust AVG any more, quite a few people are having problems with it.

It's true, AVG isn't very reliable. A lot of people seem to use it nowadays, but I've had to help a few friends fix viruses, which AVG missed in almost every case. Using AVG for most viruses, is like trying to use a medicaid card to cure AIDS.

I don't know, but I've never had any problems with AVG, been using it for years. I still get a little virus now and then, but far fewer than before I got AVG. I also have BitDefender on my 'puter. AVG does it's scan every morning and I do another scan with BitDefender about twice a month {though it hasn't come up with anything yet}.
In this case, I haven't seen anything about a solution anyway, so I'm not surprised that AVG didn't see it. I'm still keeping an eye out on this.

Peace to you and yours,

Try to instal Ad-Aware Free and update it

Shut down system restore on every drive:
start/programs/accessories/system tools/system restore/system restore settings/turn of system restore on all drives

Run a Full Scan of entire computer with Ad-Aware Free

Special Adware softwares are usually better in finding such filth, beacuse they are build for it.

I'm not an expert, but try Avira Antivir (free edition) if you're unhappy with AVG. Avira has worked better for me than at least AVG (in terms of being able to find more viruses & such, and the viruses that are found will always be properly dealt with and won't return unless I repeat a certain stupid step on the web & e-mail).
Maybe others can recommend Avira aswell? Maybe that helps more. =)

Edit: I also use;
Ad-Aware
Spybot Search & Destroy
SUPERAntiSpyware
(these 3 are mainly focused on spyware, malware and so on)

And also;
CCleaner (this is mainly a tool to clean your registry, your active PC history, to forcefully uninstal software that doesn't want to be uninstalled, plus some other minor options).

All software mentioned in this post are free editions of course, and after at least 2 years I am still very pleased with them.
