Default Virgin Media Superhub R36 software bug

From the end of July I found JDownloader giving constant 'CRC Check failed MD5' messages. I didn't worry too much as the RAR files unpacked with 7Zip and the movies didn't seem to have suffered. Then I found that software update downloads were flagged as corrupt or had been reported to Microsoft as unsafe and I couldn't update. Now I started to worry - the only way I could update software was to get a mate to download on to a USB stick and do it that way. Virgin Media customer service stated there was no known problem with the Super Hub.

Eventually.... I found a thread on the Virgin Media forum where lo-and-behold there is a problem with the R36 software upgrade which was installed late July.... it corrupts downloads!
Calls to VM tech support today escalated up the line until I was told that to download software I needed to change the superhub to modem, then when I had the required downloaded files change it back to superhub again. In modem mode it can only serve one pc, unless I revert back to my old Linksys router.
This is a bit like taking out the car's cd-player and inserting a cassette player to listen to one or two tracks, then taking the cassette player out again and reinserting the cd-player. Is this technical progress I ask?
Apparently they are 'working on it' and it 'only affects a few customers' - does anyone know differently?

This reminds me of a similar problem in an earlier firmware, try turning off the firewall in the router

Thanks, tried that as well as turning off IP Flood Detection, but it is definitely a bug in the R36 software. I have now applied to be a Beta tester for the corrected Super Hub software which apparently cures the corrupted downloads but doesn't match the speed that it should.

I have this same constant jdownloader CRC Check FAILED problem since changing from my previous Virgin Media modem and separate router on 50Mb speed to the Superhub on 60Mb speed. Before no problems now I cannot download anything from Netload.

I recently had to install XP as well as 7 to dual boot as something I needed to run wasn't compatible with 7 and the XP install never has this problem. I can download all night with not a single CRC FAIL.

I thought it must be my 7 install so today I formatted the SSD that has 7 on it and reinstalled and unfortunately still have the CRC FAILED problem

Really don't know what to try next.

EDIT: Just tried Modem Mode and still CRC CHECK FAILED on everything

EDIT2: Seem to have it fixed. After more googling and testing seems my NOD antivirus (which hasn't given me a problem in years!) had started interfering with jdownloader. I followed these instructions and no CRC FAILED errors now:
