Default Windows 7, Nero and PowerDVD Won't open Need some help

Hey Guys and Gals, I need some help with an issue that I have been working on for the past few days, and am pulling my hair out trying to find a solution.

As a note this was all working previously 2 days ago on my WD 2TB drive.

I purchased a new 128GB SSD for my HTPC, installed it, and installed windows 7 pro x64. I installed all my system drivers and all the windows updates.

Then I installed Nero 9 and PowerDVD 11 so I could watch BRDVD's, there were no issues with installations.

Now when I double click the desktop icon for Power DVD nothing happens, and same for Nero. I did some checking on the internet and realized i forgot to install Visual C++ package, installed it but no change.

I then formatted my SSD and re installed windows and everything else once again, install the 2 programs and nothing still.

I also went to the folder were the program files are and tried to start the applications from there. When I did this I get a windows error that the side by side configuration is incorrect and the programs don't load.

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this?

As a note the SSD is upgraded to latest firmware.

Nope not set up in RAID, it is AHCI.

I have searched Google for a solution, but to no avail.

Also I did not Migrate, I did a clean install of everything. All my other programs work but these 2.

Found this

This problem is normally caused by a faulty C++ Redistributable package on the system.

There are two possibility to resolve this issue. The first one would be to reinstall the C++ directly on the system. Please go the following Microsoft website and install the following patch:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=766a6af7-ec73-40ff-b072-9112bab119c2
If the application still does not work, then please remove all C++ installation and Nero from your system over the Control Panel. Now restart your computer an run again the Nero installation. The Nero installer will reinstall the attached C++ version, therefore the issue shouldn´t occur again.

Newer tech is not always better. Just more expensive.

Something very similar to your problem happened to me, my laptop runs 2 graphics cards, on board intel 3000 and nvidia geforce 635m, rolled back to factory nvidia geforce worked perfectly, the newer nvidia driverstopped anydvd, dvdfab platinum and powerdvd from working so maybe this can help you.

Hey everyone,

Sorry took me so long to get back on this, got caught up with a bunch of other stuff and didn't get back to the PC till this past weekend... And I got it fixed.

After installing every Visual C++ package available on the net, and removing, rebooting, reinstalling and so on, nothing seamed to work. I tried new drivers, as Wizard666 suggested, even reformatted and tried to install before any drivers were installed, and nothing.

I then tried reinstalling my OS on my old HDD and low and behold both programs worked. So now I know it had something to do with the install of the SSD. So I decided to get everything else working on the SSD and leave those programs for now, and do more research.

I decided to download a newer version of Nero, 11 is the one I got, and thought I would get away from power dvd for another bluray program. During the install of Nero, the installer installed 8+ Visual C++ files, two of which I did not find anywhere before. After that I thought why not try Power dvd one more time, and poof it worked and like a champ

Looks like in the end Senwoda was on the right track with those C++ files, thanks again to everyone.
