Using Vista on my laptop, which I use for pretty much everything.
I am using FC on this really small desktop though, just for learning about networking in Linux.

I don't really have any issues with Vista at all. All the PCs I've used it on work just fine...
I tried to go back to XP, but after getting used to where everything is stored on Vista it felt a little weird to me.

Whatever works for people is what works, whether it be Mac, Windows, or Linux.

I bought a new laptop less than a month ago, and it came with Vista installed. I have had absolutely ZERO problems with it. I've never even had it crash.

Vista Works Best with at least Dual Core and 2 gigs of Ram.

Best = No Slow Downs / Problems

OK specs but I bet there will be a problem with something.

I'd say neither, I go Mac OS X or wait until the new M$ OS comes out (Moving away from Windows, Starting from scratch).

OneSz1646 - your system will run Vista.

but why would you want to?

The choice is completely up to you ...

but, I'd say do this:

install Vista
run a few system test I'd suggest 10 or 12 test
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_testing
then format & install XP
run the exact same test

compare your results

Which Op/Sys gets better results?

then based on the results of the test, you can decide
Which Op/Sys is better for you?

That'll be one heck of a wait for Windows 7, or whatever they end up calling it...
Most likely end of '09 to Jan 2010 is when they'll release it...

i have a setup of ubuntu, xp and vista boot on my system, and its hard for me to choose to use xp after using vista for some time now. Vista is so much more conventient and easier to use, forget about any bugs you have heard about. As for performance i dont notice any diffrence, I guess if you do some benchmark test xp might come out the winner but its not anything noticeable. When im messing with my xp installing programs and what not my pc sometimes crashes or freezes as it never crashes with vista.

Yeah i used to run it fine with dual core 2.4 GHz and 2gigs of DDR2 1066. But then i overclocked to 3.2 GHz and have no problems. But for your set up, vista should run perfectly.

I voted Vista, because It worked really well on my laptop, everything ran great, with only the problem of not being able to use my printer/scanner with my waccom tablet installed.

BUT recently installed vista on my desktop, and nothing went well. My TV tuner wouldnt work, the games I tried wouldn't work, and my wireless card would only stay connected for like 15 minutes at a time. So, I ""downgraded"" back to XP

I voted Vista. I got 4GB of RAM, so the RAM hogging isn't a problem. I also prefer it since I can use DirectX 10 in games that support it.

If you have anything more than 2 gigs... your better off with vista assuming you have a good system all around. Thats my opinion :-/
