Default Ghost in the shell?...

I know that Ghost in the shell has been long gone in its series but how many of you guys still think it rocks?....

Is it in or out?
either way what are some alternatives to this anime?

Also do not post Bleach! or Naruto!! nothing against them (they rock ) but give a anime that actually has some drama and depth to it.

I would think they are still in it is pretty new well the anime the first movie is a little old school wouldn't you think. Some alternatives might be deathote, Berserkand, and gungrave these go into plot and are great dramas if that is what you are looking for.

Yeah, I would definitely shoot for Death Note and Berserk. Maybe even Cowboy Bebop.

It's hard to find an anime that has a backing for a story line and can fulfill the information over a long span of episodes. It seems like most anime are just going for the long haul because of the revenue. I, myself, prefer short anime that run about 13-24 episodes. Quick and to the point.

I've held off on watching the series since it negates the ending of the first movie, which is a masterpiece. I'll end up watching it one day, though.

You're not the first person I've heard say that, but I've met some who got past it and absolutely loved it.

Just try to get into it with an open mind. Couldn't hurt, right?

The movies are in a completely different continuity from SAC (the series). Think of the series as a show based on the movies. (I'm going to ignore the people complaining about the validity of that claim) It'll help you move through the series with a better mindset. I did the same thing, though the other way around, when I watched the Escaflowne movie after thoroughly enjoying the series. Back to GitS. The movies are set in Hong Kong, while the series is in Japan, which is a big tell on how different they are. However, the characters are the same as in the movies, just with slightly different histories. I would recommend that anyone who enjoyed the movies watch SAC, but ignore the "third" movie, which is just a recap of the major storyline in SAC season 1(a.k.a. 1st Gig).

I love the series and the movies, even if they are some-what different. It can take some time to get use to the story line and what not, but its good.

Code Geass is a good alternative too.
