As title says, before getting into anime, have you steryotyped it?. Like when you know someone who watches anime, you lol/make fun at him. Or let's say you had an image in your mind that anime is [put what you thought of anime here].

I'll start with myself.
I always knew that what I watch on TV sometimes is Japanese, but never aware of the term "anime", and since all what they air is childish stuff, or heavily edited so it suits kids, I got it that all Japanese cartoons are like that.

When I first learned the term "anime" i got it wrong. I was searching for something in google, and ended up with a site having pics for anime girls(ecchi and erotic ones), so I had this image in my mind that anime is what is actually being called hentai in reality.

But honestly, I never made fun of anyone who watches anime, or let's say I never came across one.
But gradually I learned more about it and came to respect it, but never got into it until recently(refer to this post to know how)

Yeah I have, for example I usually don't like mech based animes...I just don't like them.
So when I see one, for about 5min I usually stop because I think its going to be mindless giant mech's fighting.
Though I do like Eureka 7, because I gave it a chance. We have to overcome our stereotypical minds.

Yeah, I did that with One Piece. I got hooked really quick though.

I'm not sure if it was really a stereotype though. I had read a lot of the Manga in Shonen Jump and wasn't a huge fan of it. I guess watching the Anime just made it a lot easier for me.

I think we've all done it at one time or another. My mother used to make fun of me all the time for watching anime, saying that they were cartoons and for little kids. However, one day I somehow talked her into watching Fushigi Yugi with me. Now it seems that I've created a monster. She's even more obsessed about anime than I am!!!!
