I first started watching anime when i was about 7 or eight. My elder brother was well into it and he is 7years older so he influenced me a lot. The first animes i saw as a child were VOLTRON and G FORCE/BATTLE OF THE PLANETS. Although most people don't remember these ones. look it up if you can.

Mid 90s, I saw Akira & other Japanese animated movies on the Sci-fi channel. The 1st series I got into was Dragon Ball and then Sailormoon.

My girlfriend and sister have bonded while watching anime, and eventually I was dragged into the mix. The problem is that they usually watch those melodramatic romance type shows which always seem to drag on and on because they guys never have any nuts.

Hmmm. I don't even remember it well... But it all started in 90s. When "Voltron - defender of the universe" was on air. Then "Sailor Moon", "Pokemon". But I really got into anime after seeing "Beyblade" and it's my hobby till now

I guess mine starting with Candy Candy when I was still in playgroup .... LoL.
For a kid, there's no "anime" or whatsoever. Everything is "Cartoon", so I watched Candy Candy as well as Mickey Mouse. :D
And back then, everything was subbed ...... even Doraemon .... *sigh*

I never really knew what Anime was when I was little, and I began watching Pokemon, then Yu-Gi-Oh, then Naruto. (Who would've guessed) After that I moved from mainstream dubbed Anime to subbed Anime, Elfen Lied being my first series. I later then became an Otaku....

I watched anime before I even knew it was anime. I wouldn't really recall what I saw first but it was either between Akira on VHS or an episode Dragonball on tv. Yes, Dragonball was on tv some time in the early 90's I think... But those really didn't get me into anime. It was Sailor Moon, yes I did watch it because it really was a good anime, and Dragonball Z. Sailor Moon came first for me in middle school sometime in the late 90's then Dragonball at around mid 99 early 00. When ever they began to show it on Toonami.
Yep that's pretty much it.

i started with vampire hunter d, didn't even know what anime was. first anime series was ronin warriors (yoroiden samurai troopers). first (and only) manga was naruto, just to read ahead of the anime. not a manga fan.
