try reading GTO manga, it's better than the anime + drama

Beck is f*kin' awesome if you love music. I feel high reading Beck + listening Dire Straits music in the background. I haven't watch Beck anime though

^ Indeed the GTO manga is superior to the anime. I felt so sad when it ended lol

The Beck anime is pretty faithful to the manga, and its nice to actually hear some music (its pretty well done too considering its all original and for an anime). They only get up to the grateful sound 5 part though.

gokusen XD .. theres the obvious comparisons to GTO but its also good in its own way

personally i wasnt too interested in the drama - watched the anime first, then manga, and so id recommend that order too. anime covers events of first few(?) chaps of manga, so is a good way to be introduced to the characters and story. and with voices and animation, some of the jokes taken from the manga are enhanced (fujiyamas choir LOL)

You should watch School Rumble. It's a slice of life romantic comedy. The anime stops pretty short, the manga keeps going. The anime and the manga are very close, so either is good. It's got the perfect love triangles.

Karin is a slice of life romantic comedy about a vampire. It's not all dark and twisted though, you should give it a try.

Over Drive is an anime about a really pathetic guy who finds out about a bicycling club and joins. It has some comedy in it. You should give it a try. At first I didn't think I'd like it since it was all about cycling, but it really got me interested in it at the same time.

Bokura Ga Ita is a romantic slice of life comedy also. Average teens at high school, but it's really cute. At first, I didn't like the drawing style of it, but then it grew on me.

Paradise Kiss is about a girl who befriends a group of students who go to a fashion design school. She becomes their model for their end of the year project, and love develops between her and the members. It's really down to earth, and the emotions are realistic. It's short, about 12 episodes I think, but it's really good. I really like the animation too.

Nana is also a really good slice of life musical anime. It's got somewhere around 40ish episodes I think and the manga continues. I thought it was really compelling, the story line was interesting.

Peach Girl is an anime about a girl with low self-esteem who then gets into love triangles and all the backstabbing-ness of high school. I didn't like the drawing style of their lips on this one haha but as you watch it, it gets less noticeable. I didn't really like the ending all too much, but the story is good as it goes along. I liked it and I'd recommend it.

Wow, I didn't realize I typed so much, but I hope this helps!
