Never. Actually, even if it's the last available copy of a series that I've been looking all over the internet, still I won't download it. It's just that it's quality is so horrible and unacceptable.

I only watch RMVB when that is the only format that is available, but prefer AVI or MKV.

A few years ago I downloaded an RMVB episode of some anime I don't even recall.
Well, I tried but I couldn't watch it to the end. No quality at all. I kind'a vowed I'd never touched a RMVB ever again. And I had a slow PC with a somewhat low resolution.
I started to archive everything in 1080p (MKV) before I even had the means to play it.
Cheers to my older self for that decision!

I've had so many problems with rmvb. Had to download new players and codecs and even then I could sometimes just get a pitching sound, but no picture. I did the same as wthc and started downloading everything in the highest quality. Even if it takes up much space on my drive i won't go back

Nty, if you can watch media in the highest quality for a very cheap price, why would you degrade. Besides, its not the same content you're watching as rmv vs x264 or untouched quality for sure.

a few years ago, i actually loved this format despite the low quality since they had small file sizes. but fast-forward a few years and now mini-mkv's have become more popular. so i choose them over rmvb if i'm concerned about file sizes (better quality with the same small files). however, with a new laptop, i've realized the file sizes aren't really an issue anymore since i have so much space! over 500GB is a vast improvement over having less than 100GB on my old laptop. as technology keeps getting better, there really is no reason to sacrifice quality these days.

Well unlike some people, I don't have high speed internet, so file size does have a significant effect on DL times. Also I just do not have the space to have everything in HD. I have a couple of series in 720p and to be honest I don't need resolution that high, especially for something that is mostly block colour anyway, and they take up far too much room on my PC. I have a 320GB HDD and an external and I still don't have enough space.

Ive got a whole 1tb hdd Dedicated to Movies.
If its a 25ep series, 720p is usually great.
However I don't have the download speed for shows with over 100+ eps at 720p.
I only have a few series' in Rmvb and their quality is acceptable.
I would rather have Mkv, Flv, Avi but Rmvb is fine aswell :)

in my case, the issue is not the rmvb vs avi/mkv, but isp traffic limits, as my isp abolished the "ilimited traffic", im forced to stick to rmvb "franschise", instead of avi or mkv.
of course, mkv is the "state of art", and i do prefer mkv, but right now, im restricted to rmvb.... :(
