For newbs, read the link below to know what fanservice is. Content visible to registered users only. Join our free community today! So my question is, what do you think of fanservice when put in an anime, do they add to the series and make it better, or just ruins it and makes you annoyed, or you just don't care? My thoughts is that they're just annoying and make no sense at times, I mean I am watching anime for storyline, action scenes, plot twists, etc... why would I need fanservice there, it's just annoying and unneccesary, SPECIALLY when overused, like you see it every single frame or something. I can tolerate it when it's made in fair amounts, but too much is just annoying. What about you? Like to hear

I find it ridiculous. Though haven't seen it exactly as described as on Wiki, i did watch an episode of something-something Guardians with bigboobed female characters. The story was weak to begin with, but when one of the lead characters changed into a Candy Maid uniform(to fight in...), i closed the program and deleted the anime. EDIT: Ikkitousen: Great Guardians was the name of the anime i mentioned. Worst kliche i've seen in a long time. Last edited by Daikoi; 06-18-2008 at 04:22 PM. |

Its ok if theres a lil bit in certain shows but sometimes they mainly put it in too boost ratings. Example would be Code Geass R2. It was doing relatively poor in Japan, and then they added more fanservice and their ratings increased. However there are some shows that are built around fanservice such as ToLoveRu and Kanokon so I can't really blame them. |

As a straight male in early 20's, I shamelessly stand in defense of fan service :) |

I think it's amusing. It all depends though. For example, ecchi is expected to have that sort of visual direction so it grows old. But examples where I think it's tasteful would have to be (forgive me for citing this) Dragon Ball Z. Turtle Hermit and his nose bleeds. Just brought a bit more humor to the series. |
