Default If I have a game pre-ordered but decide I don't want it anymore and want my money bac

Will gamestop give me my money back even if the game comes out in like 10 days? I believe if the game isn't open I can get my money back at any time right? Or does it work differently for preorders? I put all 42 bucks(including taxes down on it). I'm having regrets because I'm not sure I want to be spending 40 bucks on a game that I haven't seen reviews on yet.

And I most admit, I've been enjoying eating pizza delivered to my house than gaming lately. I've just not been very happy with gaming lately.

It really depends on the staff on duty at the time. They usually won't refund your pre-order money until you can have the game in hand (and they can sell it to someone else), and if the manager's cool, you can usually return it immediately when you pick it up. If they hassle you about it, then take it, leave, and come back the next day telling them "My so and so also pre-ordered it as a birthday gift, so I don't need this copy"

Yes they may not give you a refund but they have to give you store credit.
The suggestion to claim you were given the game already as a present, is good and has worked for myself.

Just a tip avoid any pre-orders there are enough games, they get the money in advance and earn money from it in the bank while you are out of pocket.

Check reviews, talk to friends or rent the game and then decide if you want to give them your money, but not before.

What game may I ask did you pre-order?

yes preorders are 100% refundable

the exceptions:
- if preorder came with a bundled item and you don't have that item anymore
- if preorder came with an online code and you used the code already

source: I used to work at gamestop when I was a teenager

but say you didn't go and refund the preorder...you could still return the game as long as it wasn't open yet (again same to exceptions apply above, if the game was bundled with something else you must be able to return the bundled item as well in most cases)

you should be fine.

only thing that is usually not refundable is the deposit but that's usually only like £5 sorry I'm from the UK never heard of fully paying for a game before release tho, I usually pre-order online so I just press the cancel button if I change my mind.

What Tyler said, I went to cancel my preorder a few days before Modern Warfare 2 came out and they gave it to me in cash, the same way I paid.

That's why you should pre order online, won't take your money until it ships.

don't know about gamestop, but i'm from argentina and buy games on play-asia.. if you change your mind and want to cancel your order/pre-order they return the 100% of the money because they don't charge it to the credit card until the game is shipped..
