Default Civilization Complete Collection - 19 GAMES!

1. Sid Meier's Civilization (1991)
Civilization - ISO & Rip, english version

Quote:
There are two version of Civilization included - a rip and a full image.

Full Image
Does not work on Windows Vista. Untested on other systems, but this is confirmed working from Underground Gamer.

1. Burn or mount the image.
2. Install.
3. Play.

Rip
This version is compatible with Windows Vista 32-Bit SP1. It will not work on the 64-Bit version of windows.

Civilization I is the original Windows (not DOS) version of the game, pre-patched to v2.0.

Civilization has the widest scope of any strategy game of its time. You are a leader of a nation. You begin in the Stone Age, and complete the game in the XXIth century (unless your civilization gets destroyed earlier). Your eventual goal is to become the dominant civilization in the world, either by wiping out everybody else, or being the first to get a space ship to Alpha Centauri.

Multiplayer version of the original Civilization. Single player is still available, but there are a lot of multiplayer connection options. Gameplay is exactly the same as in the original. Beginning 4000 BC with only a few settlers, you build up your civilization by building cities, making discoveries and competing with your rivals. A map editor is included.

Starting out with just a single unit and knowledge of a small local area, your challenge is to guide your civilization into becoming the dominant force, either by conquering every other civilization or by sending a spaceship to Alpha Centauri.

As you'd imagine, a lot of challenges come into such a task. You must locate cities so as to make use of food, construction and trade resources, which can be later improved by constructing irrigation, roads, mines, railroads, and farmland. Each city can construct one item at a time - civilian and military units, buildings or Wonders of the World (there are 28 of these across the different eras of the game, and each can be possessed by only one city). The buildings and wonders have different effects - most buildings and some wonders improve defenses, scientific research, trade or food output, but most wonders offer unique advantages that can be used to great strategic effect.

There are over 100 scientific advancements in the game, and most require prerequisites before they can be researched. How quickly this happens depends on your scientific output, which must be traded off against financial and military concerns.

Combat can occur in cities or in the open terrain - things like forests and mountains give the defense an advantage. Unlike in the original Civilization, fights aren't always won outright - most times the winning unit will be damaged, reducing its movement speed and attacking prowess until it's repaired, but the losing unit always disappears from game. If multiple units are in a square that come sunder attack, the strongest unit fights - unless it is a city or Fortress, all units will be lost if the fight is lost. Once a city has no defensive units left, it can be captured. Certain units have the ability to cover all squares as fast as if they were roads, only a few can see submarines, and air units require re-fueling in a friendly city.

There are up to 6 other Civilizations in the game, and keeping good diplomatic relations with these is crucial. At times you may want to trade knowledge or pool military resources with a neighbor - at others they may want to destroy you. If you make deals and go back on them your reputation is affected.

8. Sid Meier's Civilization III
Sid Meier's Civilization III - ISO, english version

Quote:
Sid Meier's Civilization III is a turn-based game where the objective is to rule the planet. Players control one of 15 Civilizations (Aztecs, Egyptians, Russians, etc). Each Civilization has its own particular strengths and weaknesses -- some are more scientific, for example, while others have stronger cultural or military attributes.

The point of the game is to expand the influence of your civilization through resource management, conquest, or trade with other civilizations. As game time progresses from ancient times through the modern era, your civilization will acquire new technologies, which in turn enable interesting new abilities and enhanced power.

Since there are several ways to win (military, diplomatic, or cultural), it is up to each player to determine how best to manage the division of labor -- should you spend critical resources building new cities, or should you instead push your efforts into researching new weaponry? Such decision-making and management skills are the keys to this game.

Install Notes
1. Burn or mount the CD.
2. Install (if it doesn't autoplay, navigate to the CD and run setup.exe)
3. Run patch v1.29F.

9. Civilization III - Play the World (2002)
Civilization III - Play the World (2002) - ISO, english version

Quote:
Play the World is a multiplayer expansion to Civilization III. It adds new cultures, units, and scenarios to the original game as well as several multiplayer modes. In Turnless mode, turns are taken simultaneously by each player and a turn ends when the turn timer runs out. In Simultaneous mode, turns are taken at the same time and when all players are done making their moves (or the optional turn clock runs out), the moves are made and units and buildings are produced. Classic mode is where each player takes their turn separately just like in the original Civilization III game.

There are also new victory conditions, most designed to speed up gameplay so multiplayer games do not last forever. In Regicide and Mass Regicide, you are given kings units which you must keep from getting killed as you build your empire. If you lose all your kings, you lose the game. In Elimination, you lose if you lose any of your cities. In Victory Control Points, you gain additional points by holding certain victory points on the map. In Save the Princess, there is a princess that must be rescued and held to gain points (sort of like capture the flag mode in other games).

10. Civilization III - Conquests (2003)
Civilization III - Conquests (2003) - ISO, english version

Quote:
Civilization III: Conquests is the second expansion for Sid Meier's Civilization III. It includes most of the content from the first expansion Play the World, except a few extras and fan made scenarios. Its main attractions are the nine scenarios (or 'Conquests'), which replay 9 defining moments in the history of man-kind.

The standard game has also received a major overhaul. In addition to the extras (7 new Civilizations, new Units, new Improvements, Wonders, Terrain features, etc.) the basic rules have been tweaked and turned in order to re-balance the game, and to stop some of the exploits that have been found by the more-than-devout Civilization III players.

And in case you've been playing at the highest difficulty for so long, you've forgotten what a challenge feels like, the designers have also added two extra difficulty levels. 'Demi-god' and above all, the aptly named 'Sid'-level.

12. Civilization IV (2005)
Civilization IV (2005) - ISO, english version

Quote:
Sid Meier's Civilization IV, the fourth installment of the series, starts the player, like in the previous games, with a single village in the Stone Age and has them advance from there by exploring, founding cities, researching, exploiting natural resources and eventually trading or making war with neighbouring civilizations. While Sid Meier's Civilization III put cultural influence in the forefront, this time it is religion that is put forward as a new factor underlying many aspects of the game.

In addition, Sid Meier's Civilization IV attempts to streamline gameplay by removing some features (corruption, pollution) which slowed down the late stages of the game and making significant changes to the combat system so that tactical thinking plays a more important role. Units now have a single combat value instead of defense and attack values, have a special ability and can be further enhanced with experience in a player-defined way.

The game also offers some aesthetic improvements such as a detailed 3D map, environmental ambiance and animated units.

Install Notes
If you intend on installing the Beyond the Sword Expansion, there is no need to patch the core game as the expansion will do that for you. If you also intend on installing the Warlords expansion, make sure to do so before installing Beyond the Sword.

17. Alpha Centauri (1999)
Alpha Centauri (1999) - ISO, english version

Quote:
After the 20th century, humankind reaches its hand out across the stars. Seeking to escape the overcrowded chaos of Earth, the United Nations builds a single seedship, the UNS Unity, and sends her on a mission towards the Alpha Centauri star system. After a long journey in cryogenic suspension, the Unity reaches Alpha Centauri where the Captain is killed under mysterious circumstances. Suspecting the motives of one another, the officers and the crew split into 7 factions, each lead with a distinct ideology and motives that they seek to build the planet in their image...

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri is best compared to Civilization II, but features many distinct differences in gameplay and thinking. In Civilization, the objective was to evolve a society from primitive tribes, whereas Alpha Centauri starts with the landing of colony pods on a barren planet with society becoming fractured. Each faction (aka nation) receives it's own share of the Unity's resources and tech base. For the basics, bases produce nutrients, materials and energy. Nutrients are required to feed to population, Materials are used in production and energy represents the commerce effect which can be traded to players diplomatically or spent on improvements. The 7 factions each have their own agenda, which is determined in large part by the Social Engineering. This enables a faction to customize its values, earning a bonus for what it considers important and a penalty for what it doesn't. Social Engineering system are discovered through research, the same as other improvements, such as structures and units.

Research is divided into 4 types of technologies, which form an intertwining tree of dependencies. They are: Conquer (direct military applications), Explore (indirect technologies for units and bases), Build (direct infrastructure application) and Discovery (Science for the sake of science, indirect applications). Because of the separation, factions can focus on what they hope the intended result of their science will be, and can be changed at any time. To explore the planet, units are needed. Any unit can be customized out of known technologies; consisting of a chassis type, reactor, weapon, armor and special abilities. Each of these components has a different expense, with untested technologies having additional overhead (prototype).

Finally, Alpha Centauri is not a desolate star system. There is life on the planet, in the form of alien fungus that litters the ground and strange creatures such as mindworms. Initially hostile to all factions, this form of life holds its own secrets and effects on the world at large.

Both, the original game and the expansion, have been updated to versions 4.0 and 2.0 respectively. As of July 2010 the only remaining officially released update not included in the package is the "Win 2000/XP Update" compatibility patch, which does not alter the game mechanics.

Install Notes
The planetary pack includes all patches for both Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire.

The Call to Power games are not made by Microprose or Firaxis, which is why the second game is not called Civilization (trademark infringement). There are the same style though. Thanks for some old hard-to-find games.
