this is awesome, got it working today and i'm surprised it runs so well on my crappy 6 year old computer. just wondering two things though if anyone knows...first off, why is there an option in the crack section(when you double click the launch file) for online play if it doesn't work? at least it doesn't seem to work.. and more importantly, will garry's mod or any mod at all work with this?

Garry's Mod will work with this I'm pretty sure, but not online.

i just looked into it a bit more and i don't think any mods will work with this because they run through steam and this doesn't. i'm thinking there's probably some non-steam cracked mods somewhere though..

IMPORTANT EDIT: i've also found out that games saves in this version(or in any pirated version of half life 2 from what i'm hearing) don't work. when you try to load a saved game then you'll get some kind of message saying something along the lines of "node graph out of date. rebuilding..." and then you'll be able to play but AI will not work anymore. enemies will just stand still the whole time. just tried it out for myself and i also found that this message gets logged in the console "ERROR: Loaded save game with no node graph. Load map and build node graph first!" i think i've heard of a few people saying there's a way to fix this so as soon as i find it i'll post it here.

UPDATE: to fix the problem with the AI not responding open the console and type this in: AI_Disable

Thanks for that info. I had it happened only ones (the AI not working) and it was in the middle of a level. I used the HL2.exe from the crack folder to launch the game. After that I replayed the level and everything worked just fine.

As for "node graph out of date. rebuilding..." message I get it every time it loads a new level. I just wait a few seconds and then everything is just fine... AI works without any problems.

hmm..it never happened to me in the middle of playing, only every time i load a save. i tried using the exe from the save folder and that seems even worse then the original exe because not only do i still have the problem with AI being frozen, but the little window that opens up right in the very beginning called "My cracked games.." doesn't even show up. it just goes straight to half life 2...and i know i haven't yet but i'd like to check out counter strike source soon. sucks that multiplayer doesn't work...but i guess i don't mind too much because i plan on buying the whole special edition pack eventually. and the node graph out of date thing happens every time the game loads for me too but it never seems to affect anything.

Yes, "node graph out of date. rebuilding..." message just adds a few extra waiting seconds but it doesn't affect anything.

It's strange that you have a problem with the hl2.exe from the "crack" folder. First, I installed just HL2 (just to try it). The second time I installed everything. In both cases it showed everything in "My cracked games" menu. The only difference I noticed was the game menu background which was different than the one when using the hl2.exe from the root folder.

In any case I have no complains about it. I always wanted to play HL2 but I have this thing about steam. I refuse to install it on my system. And I don't play online so it is yet another reason for me not to install that steam crap.
