Half Life 2 Special Edition

When I double click the hl2.bat file once I've copied it into the Half-Life 2 directory, it gives me a launcher error saying it 'Failed to launch the launcher DLL' and 'Invalid access to the memory location'. Anyone know how to fix this?

oops, meant to click quote not thanks...but anyway i would try reunpacking everything into a short directory like right in the C drive(just temporarily) or right on the desktop. usually if there are too many files with long names in deeper directories then they won't be able to get accessed for some reason. also, make sure you're copying and pasting all 4 .bat files from the crack folder into the main half life folder and then try opening the hl2.bat file. also, don't copy the cracked launcher into the main folder until after everything's installed.

to install it I'm using hl2.exe. Do I also need to use the steam.exe and install steam? Thanks for the help

I tried the first mirror for it but got a tier0.dll error. I guess I'll try the 3rd one cuz the 2nd one doesn't have part 1 :) Thanks for the help.

you don't need to open anything except for the hl2.bat file. when you open that it'll install all four games at once. you don't need steam to play this at all because it's a non-steam crack.

EDIT: ohh i see what you're doing now...you're opening the wrong setup file. you don't want to open the hl2.exe you need to open the file called "Start hl2" which is labeled as an MS-DOS Batch File. that should do it for you, have fun playing =P

wow i feel really stupid now :P thanks sooooo much for your help.

Edit: Ok, I reinstalled everything, using the Start hl2.bat file, but it still gives me the "launcher dll: invalid access to memory location" error. oh well I guess my computer blows :(
