I still wonder if you have tried the activator I posted and if your installed Vista is genuine (not pre-cracked). My suggestion is: install a fresh original version, then apply the activator! It has been tested well on many machines

Yeah, once you apply this and it shows successful activation, it will pass all genuine tools from MS

Hi Prescott--

Thanks for the reply. The vista installed is an original with the old OEM patch (the one SP1 finds) installed. I was trying to find a way around reinstalling because of the amount of data I have on this drive. Is there any particular order or way to do this once MS has disabled your Vista? Do you know of a way to 'go back' and gain access and then apply your activator? That was the essence of my question. I have used your program - but, perhaps, I am missing something or because Vista is 'disabled', I am unable to run it appropriately. Any help would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'm just going to purchase a key, as I don't have a practical way to back off the nearly 1TB of data I have on my hard drive to do a 'clean' install.

Actually, "going back" is quite easy if you know how to. The best way is to ask for help from an expert to backup all data to another mobile disk, then clean install.

Or you can remove the previous crack by using this tool to make Vista genuine and inactivated again, then you can choose to apply a new one or legal key:

ok - just an update for those who might be finding this same issue. I used system restore to go back as far as I possibly could. This brought the system back without the reduced functionality mode. I then used the VOATK tools to remove ALL cracks (essentially making it a clean, unactivated system). Then ran the activator that is the root of this thread. Rebooted and have been working since. I'll update if it dies again, but so far, it seems to be good - the system page says 'genuine' and it has downloaded all updates without issues.

The definite answer is NO. What you get from this activator is not only product key but something more that "fool" Vista to be installed on a brand manufacturer's machine
