Hero 1997 DVDRip Xvid PROPER - SBunite ![]() Director Corey Yuen and writer Jeff Lau, the team behind such Hong Kong Cinema favorites as All For the Winner and Saviour of the Soul, reteam for Hero, a 1997 retelling of the Shaw Brothers classic Boxer from Shantung. Takeshi Kaneshiro (The House of Flying Daggers) stars as Ma Wing Jing, a country bumpkin who arrives in early 1930s Shanghai along with his brother (Yuen Wah of Kung Fu Hustle). A tough fellow with considerable martial arts skills, Ma immediately catches the eye of righteous mob boss Tam See (Yuen Biao). Ma rises quickly in the underworld, and forges a strong bond of brotherhood with Tam See. But will it be enough to withstand the treachery of rival mob boss Yeung Seung (Yuen Tak), leader of the ruthless Axe Gang? While Hero features the same story as Boxer from Shantung, it's noticeably different in execution, featuring more comedy and an energetic combination of over-the-top gunplay and acrobatic martial arts. Director/action choreographer Corey Yuen is no stranger to entertaining Hong Kong Cinema action, and loads Hero with enough bullets, bodies, and blood to fill three similar films. Takeshi Kaneshiro holds his own as the young upstart Ma Wing Jing, but Yuen Biao steals the show as the righteous and honorable Tam See. Co-starring Jessica Suen and sexy Valerie Chow, Hero is a vastly entertaining gangland actioner, and one of the most underrated Hong Kong Cinema experiences of the late nineties! ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by faerie7; 08-31-12 at 03:42 AM. |

Between Tears And Smiles 1964 DVDRip XviD ![]() In 1963, the world famous Shaw Brothers studio utilized nearly every director and performer under contract to bring the epic melodrama Between Tears and Smiles to the silver screen. Fan Chia Soo (played by Kwan Shan, star of The Blue and The Black 1 & 2 and Unfinished Melody) is a softhearted college student who finds himself in a curious romantic predicament ? he has to make a decision involving three lovely women, all vying for his attention in their own special way. The first potential Mrs. Fan is the ridiculously spoiled daughter from a rich family (played by Li Li Hua, from The Goddess of Mercy and The Fate of Lee Khan). Chia Soo is more interested in the second girl, however, as his heart is captured by the siren song of Shen Feng Hsien (also played by Li Li Hua), a soft-spoken, poverty-stricken singer performing in a seedy nightclub. The third woman in this "love rectangle" is played by Ivy Ling Bor, a street performer acrobat who works with her father. Although Chia Soo has his heart set on Feng Hsien, it turns out that he's got some stiff competition. Zeng Miu (from The Mermaid and Brotherhood) plays General Chang, who has his henchmen abduct they sexy singer for his own personal plaything. With all these obstacles, will Chia Soo get the girl? Diau Charn 1956 DVDRip XviD - qwerzz ![]() In forty plus years of filmmaking, Shaw Brothers auteur Li Han Hsiang left an indelible stamp on Hong Kong cinema, most notably with his elegant period pieces. His Huangmei operas from the 1950s and 1960s represent a timeless genre, aesthetic, and atmosphere that resonate today as much as they did fifty years ago. Li's 1958 Huangmei opera classic Diau Charn not only broke box office records with receipts of over HKD300,000, it also triumphed at the 5th Asia Pacific Film Festival, winning five awards including Best Director and Best Actress. The critical and commercial success of Diau Charn opened the door for a string of Huangmei opera films, including Li's subsequent classics The Kingdom and The Beauty (1959), Yang Kwai Fei (1962), Empress Wu (1963), and of course The Love Eterne (1963). Based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Diau Charn is a sublime retelling of a familiar tale with iconic actress Linda Lin Dai (Lam Doi) in the titular role of Diau Charn, one of the four storied beauties of ancient China. During the waning years of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), the Yellow Turban Revolution breaks out, leading to a series of external and internal revolts that shatter the royal family's power and usher in the rule of tyrannical warlord Dong Zhuo (Lo Wei). Dong eventually relocates to capital city Chang'an with puppet emperor Xian, leaving Luoyang in a blaze of fire that burns for three months. Displaced and orphaned by the pillage, young girl Hong Chang (Lin Dai) also leaves Luoyang, ending up in Chang'an where she is taken in as daughter by court official Wang Yun (Yeung Chi Hing) and renamed Diau Charn. Plotting to end Dong's tyrannical reign, Wang brings the beautiful Diau Charn to the inner courts. She becomes concubine to Dong and lover to Wang's son Lu Bu (Chao Lei), manipulating their infatuation with her to their own demise. One of the great Chinese screen sirens of the 1950s and 1960s, Lin Dai starred in many other classic opera and musical films including Les Belles (1961), Madame White Snake (1962), and Li Han Hsiang's Wang Zhao Jun (1964) and The Kingdom and The Beauty. Lin Dai's silver screen career was tragically short cut in July 1964 when she committed suicide at the age of 29, sealing her tragic heroine image in cinematic memory. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by faerie7; 09-07-12 at 12:32 AM. |

Hong Kong Hong Kong 1983 DVDRip XviD ![]() Contrary to popular thought, martial arts extravaganzas weren't the only types of films released by the legendary Shaw Brothers Studio. Wild comedies, lush musicals, and gripping dramas were just as much a part of the Shaw Bros release schedule as their bread-and-butter kung fu films, and many went on to garner much critical and box office success in Hong Kong. Such is the case with Hong Kong, Hong Kong, a critically acclaimed 1983 drama written and directed by Clifford Cai Ji Guang (Teenage Dreamers). Bearing the literal English title of "Boys and Girls," the film features the lovely Cherie Chung Chor Hung in a starring role, one that earned her newfound respect as a serious actress and only increased her status as a Hong Kong superstar! Chung, who went on to appear in such classic Hong Kong films as An Autumn's Tale and Once a Thief, stars as a sexy illegal immigrant who finds herself caught between the love of two men. One is a carpenter played by elder statesman Kwan Hoi San (from John Woo's Hard-Boiled); the other is a handsome Thai-Chinese rascal played by Alex Man Tze Leung (who earlier appeared in Wong Kar Wai's As Tears Go By)! Watch as love and lust intertwine in the sensual love story Hong Kong, Hong Kong! Upon its release, Hong Kong, Hong Kong earned quite a bit of critical praise. Writer/director Clifford Cai Ji Guang took home the Best Original Screenplay prize at the 29th Golden Horse Awards, while Cherie Chung Chor Hung, Alex Man Tze Leung, and composer Violet Lam Man Yi garnered nominations for Best Actress, Best Actor, and Best Original Score at the 3rd Annual Hong Kong Film Awards. Featuring an appearance by Shaw Brothers veteran Lo Lieh, Hong Kong, Hong Kong is a sensational, even daring film unlike any other in the Shaw Brothers film catalogue! ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by faerie7; 09-07-12 at 12:37 AM. |

Prior to that for the script adaptation of the Shaw Brothers' movies he co-directed this film with Yuan Chiu Feng. Starring such artists as Ting Hung, Chin Feng, and Luo Lie, the story revolves around Tian Yu Quan (Chin Feng) who rushes to the aid of an elderly fisherman who is bullied by an arrogant relative of the Qiu Shan ministry.
