In wonderfully comical fashion, he sets out to teach these court officials a lesson or two about treating his subjects! Of course, his behavior only enrages these stuffy official-types, but what happens when they learn that he's really the emperor? Whatever the case, it's just another day at the office for the roguish Emperor Chien Lung! Followed by the sequels The Voyage of Emperor Chien Lung and Emperor Chien Lung and the Beauty, this film took home several prizes at the 14th Golden Horse Awards including Best Drama Film and Best Color Film Art Direction (Chen Ching Shen).
