Content visible to registered users only. Join our free community today! In masonic literature it's very difficult to find a decent beginners book, especially for non-masons, but I have some recommendations. Begin with: W.L.Wilmshurst - The Meaning of Masonry A.E.Waite - Some Deeper Aspects Of Masonic Symbolism Thomas Paine - Origin of Free Masonry Albert G. Mackey - The Symbolism of Freemasonry There are also a lot of masonic jargon in masonic books, so I suggest you to visit online masonic dictionaries or this forum: Content visible to registered users only. Join our free community today! Also, I've uploaded "Albert G. Mackey - A Lexicon of Freemasonry (1860)" earlier, therein are contained some general masonic phrases like "act upon the square"...

William G. Sibley - The Story of Freemasonry (1904) ![]() Originally published in 1904, The Story of Freemasonry by W.G. Sibley is one of those classic sources of Masonic history that should be in every Mason and history buff's library. Unlike treatments of Masonic history by the likes of Mackey, Waite and Gould, Sibley covers the subject in an easy to digest and conversational manner that leaves the reader wanting more. Sibley looks at such topics as the legend of Hiram, the attempts to exterminate Freemasonry, the mystery of the William Morgan affair to name a few. However, it is his explanation of the origin and structure of the Scottish and York Rites and their relationship to Craft Masonry that is perhaps worth the price of the book alone. CONTENTS: I The Initiation into the Ancient Persian Magi, and a Curious Legend of Hiram Abif, Solomon, and the Queen of Sheba. The Ordeal of Probation A Candidate in a Den of Wild Beasts The Serpent in His Bosom Hiram Abif meets the Queen of Sheba Hiram in Love Solomon Plots Hiram's Death II Attempts to Exterminate Freemasonry Early Governments Hostile to Masonry Presbyterian Opposition The Order Ridiculed So Called Exposures of Freemasonry Roman Catholic Hostility Horrible Torture of John Coustos in 1743 by the Spanish Inquisition Edicts of Roman Popes against Masonry Leo Taxil's Remarkable Books about Murder, the Devil, Women, & the Black Mass, in the High Degrees of Masonry III Leo Taxil's Early Career Begins Writing anti-Masonic Books Charges all Masons with Murder Describes Masonic Meeting Attended by the Devil Diana Vaughn and Luciferan Masonry The Revolting "Black Mass" Anti-Masonic Congress at Trent in 1896 Collapse of Taxil's Extraordinary Tales IV The Disappearance of William Morgan & the Anti-Masonic Excitment which Followed All Over the United States Disappearance of William Morgan Anti-Masonry in American Politics John Quincy Adams's Denunciation Recent Criticisms of Masonry V The Tradition and the Evolution of the First Three Degrees of Freemasonry Freemasonry Defined The Tradition of its Ancient Origin Historical Masonry One Degree Expands into Three Freemasonry's Evolution from Masonry A Unique Masonic Law VI The Origin and Structure of the York and Scottish Rites, and Their Relations York Rite Degrees Advent of Masonry into America First Lodge under American Authority Historical Royal Arch Degree Origin of Council Degrees Templar Masonry Scottish Rite Degrees Modern Growth of Freemasonry Negro Masonry in America and Liberia VII The Fundamental Principles and Moral & Religious Teachings of Freemasonry Fundamental Principles of Masonry Deportment Required of Masons by the Ordinances of 1388, 1462, 1563 and 1586 The Famous Ancient Charges Why Women are Excluded from Masonry Women who Knew One Masonic Degree Benjamin Franklin on Freemasonry Burial of a Master Mason Burial of a Knight Templar VIII The Landmarks of Masonry Defined, & Its Universality as a Secret Fraternity The Landmarks of Masonry The Universality of the Institution Its Benevolences Suggestion for Masonic Reading 122 pages, 9.04 MB, PDF. Norman Frederick De Clifford - What is Freemasonry ![]() There have been numberless books written upon Masonry and Free-Masonry, and yet none of these authors have given us any definite or positive information in relation to these subjects as the author of this little volume, "What is Free-Masonry?" Brother de Clifford has gone out of the beaten path of all other writers, and as a result he has acquired a fund of information that is needed to enable a writer and instructor to give the "LIGHT" to illumine the pathway of those Master Masons who are searching and hungering for a knowledge of "LIGHT AND TRUTH" themselves. The author of this little volume has given years of untiring zeal and energy in many lands. He has searched diligently for data in relation to the Origin and antiquity of Masonry, what it stands for and what it teaches. He has spent years of personal investigation among the archives of the nations of the East and the sacred writings of the world, and he has given to us in his "EGYPT THE CRADLE OF ANCIENT MASONRY" more Light than any other work that was previously written on Masonry. 182 pages, 18.1 MB, PDF. James Anderson - The Constitutions of the Free-Masons (1734) ![]() Edition of the the first Masonic book printed in America, which was originally produced in Philadelphia by Benjamin Franklin in 1734, and was a reprint of a work by James Anderson (who is identified as the author in an appendix) printed in London in 1723. This is the seminal work of American Masonry, edited and published by one of the founding fathers, and of great importance to the development of colonial society and the formation of the Republic. The work contains a 40-page history of Masonry: from Adam to the reign of King George I, including, among others, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Solomon, Hiram Abif, Nebuchadnezzar, Augustus Caesar, Vitruvius, King Athelstan the Saxon, Inigo Jones, and James I of England. It is a celebration of the science of Geometry and the Royal Art of Architecture. The work also includes five songs, one of which—“A New Song”—appears in print for the first time and may have been composed by Franklin. 51 page, 0.98 MB, PDF.
